Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted September 29, 2011 Posted September 29, 2011 I felt like you do... 'til the whippoorwill of freedom zapped me.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 29, 2011 Posted September 29, 2011 I clicked Phils also.I suppose it's easier to do that while not living in south/central Jersey or eastern PA, but the Cards have annoyed me over the years much more so than the Phils. Besides, I don't think they're that good and, for the most part, I want to see the better teams advance.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted September 29, 2011 Author Posted September 29, 2011 Cardinals. Only because I'm embedded deep inside Phillie country.I know for sure that I'll be rooting for whichever team wins this series to lose in the next round.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted September 29, 2011 Posted September 29, 2011 La Russa, Molina and Pujols (though Pujols not as much because he's transcendent) still bring with them the darkness of brass rings ungrasped. Phillies success, when it came at Mets' expense, was the Mets' fault. Phillie success more recently has nothing do with the Mets.Mind you this is splitting hairs so as to make a call. They can both burn in hell, and may the Braves' figurative corpses be used to put out their flames.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted September 29, 2011 Posted September 29, 2011 I am shocked by the Phillies votes and the only thing I can think of is that those voting that way must have (very fortunately) not encountered any Philadephia fans over the past 3-4 years.I realize there's much to dislike about the Cardinals:Pitchers hitting eighth;Yadier Molina;DWIs;Historical antipathy (the 80s);The "best fans in baseball" nonsense......yet Philadelphia's abomination of a fan base makes me root for those fucking Cardinals without even stopping to consider it.
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted September 29, 2011 Posted September 29, 2011 I think the Phillies have the best shot of beating the Yanks if they make it to the WS, so maybe that's where some of the Philly love is coming from. But, I voted for the Cards.

Should they meet up with the MFYs down the road, of course, color me Redbird.
Guest metsguyinmichigan Guests Posted September 29, 2011 Posted September 29, 2011 My time in Missouri leads me to root for the Cards in this.
Guest themetfairy Guests Posted September 29, 2011 Posted September 29, 2011 Cardinals, in homage to my older son's former allegiance to them during the Mark McGwire era.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted September 29, 2011 Posted September 29, 2011 Don't care for either really and I voted for the Cards but I would think if the yankees made it then the Phillies are best equipped to beat them. It's not easy.

ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted September 29, 2011 Posted September 29, 2011 Phillies at behest of Ashie 1.

Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted September 29, 2011 Posted September 29, 2011 Yeah, there's Herzog, and Pendleton, and LaRussa, and Yadier F.But until the Greatest Fans in Baseball infest my life so as to put Redbird merchandise on chain-store shelves and bicycling kids in my NYC borough, yell homophobic slurs and toss condiment packets at me when I visit their ballpark, and leak into my family via a least-favorite in-law... it's Whoever's Playing The Phils (Unless It's The MFYs), all day, every day.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 Cards. Although I hope Yadier F. Molina goes 0-20.
willpie Old-Timey Member Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 you know what? I can't pick. Eff them both.
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted October 1, 2011 Posted October 1, 2011 Not really a fan of either team. I'll be pulling for the Cardinals, but I don't see them overcoming the 1-2 punch of Halladay & Lee in a short series.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2011 Posted October 1, 2011 Funny, I thought I wanted the Cardinals to lose slightly more than I did the Phillies. Yet at 3-0 St. Louis versus Doc Wondeful, I'm not at all saddened.
