This will definitely make me take you more seriously.

At least we know he's completely worthless as a reporter now, as opposed to just being partially worthless.

I think Tracksuit is OK. I think he asks the right questions, it just appears that he doesn't have the sources or access to the answers that some of his competitors do.

He's been here long enough though that you'd think he'd have that access now, I wonder if his fellow beat writers have let him in to that circle at all.

Perhaps his year away covering the Phillies created some kind of undue animosity towards him? Or maybe people really don't like his attire?

I saw him one night on SNY with Lennon , they didn't sell as the two shortest bear writers going but they could have...anyway , Tracksuit sounded like that kid in The Polar Express with the annoying nerdy voice who knew all about the train.

For what it's worth*, he's got the thickest local accent I've heard from any recent beat writer.

*Likely something less than $120M.

Somewhat probably, but it doesn't happen in a vacuum. In the year he got closer, his competitors prolly got that much closer. I do think Tracky writes with a good head on his shoulders though. He's looking out for justice and shit more than most of them are.

Just my impressions is all.

Like Bondy's remarks in the other thread, this one is just begging to be thrown back in the author's face.

He's on it.

@AmazinAvenue 1. Didn't say I wouldn't wear clothing over Speedo. 2. Who says I need to hit the gym?

I've gradually unfollowed more and more beat writers, but he's managed to remain. So in that one, heavily biased, way he's doing alright.

speedo actually makes some nice shorts, for beach volleyball and such. throw in some speedo water shoes, a t-shirt, and a speedo watch, and he's met his bold decree.

there. isn't that a nice ensemble?

besides, he could always wear one of these underneath...

Tracky writes a love letter to Ruben Amaro in today's Snooze. He's Omar with speed and athleticism.

In the rush to come up with something funny to say about Tracksuit when he was newly Newsly returned, did anyone mention that he looks like an OTB shlemiel intern?

If not... he looks like he's interning with that guy who hangs outside the OTB 24-7.

I think tracksuit rocks.

in all seriousness sources take time to develop (that's what he's having to do now with mets ones) and also as a take time to disbelieve. I wouldn't be surprised if someone in the Phillies office played him a little on this one - someone that he did have working relationship during his time there.

Somehow I missed when all of you discussed this and decided to call him "Tracksuit".

Makes me wonder if there isn't some secret forum where all of you guys are discussing these inside jokes...

See, it all began when I snuck into the magician's dressing room after a show, and...

Duan is the one who loves the sartorial style of Martino. I agree with him that his sensibilities are pretty good and that stuff about cultivating sources etc. What I can't understand is why a fan would purposefully ignore what any beatwriter had to say unless you that fan possessed first-hand knowledge that the writer was untrustworthy in which case you'd have a bigger scoop than they'd ever turn up.

at the moment I'm typing too quickly and not re reading enough.

What I meant was that at one moment in time Tracksuit was in one style of dynamic relationship with Philly front office being one of 'their' beat writers. Now that relationship is different, so his interpretation of what people are saying to him needs to change. I'll put it this way, I'd expect someone in the music industry to talk to me in a very different way then they would to Mr Regional Newspaper Hack, yet if I moved to a regional newspaper which way are they talking to me.

Having said that, if he's writing a love letter to Mr Amaro he's unlikely to have been played in that way. The other thing that could happen is that he got the whiff, followed up and they said - you owe us one bury it as best you can.
