Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 I'm addicted to Sporcle thanks to whoever it was (Lunchbucket?) that linked to it on the other sub-forum. I made a Met quiz. Probably too easy for the folks here. http://www.sporcle.com/games/Bombs/met_hit_leaders. I'll probably make some more when I'm bored watching random playoff games in case this is too easy. I thought about going to 50 guys but wanted to get it up there to see how it looked so I stopped at 25. It'll probably be a pain in the neck updating this thing every year, and I'll probably get bored doing so (or hopefully I'll get a life and stop).Thing, I listed UMDB as my source, let me know if that's not cool and I'll pull it off.
Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted October 8, 2009 Author Posted October 8, 2009 That site gets a lot of hits, 5 people have already played it.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 Nice., Got 19 of 25, simply could remember some off the top of my head. These quizzes are hard for me since they often group things in a different way than my brain stores them
Guest The Second Spitter Guests Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 Things I learnt from this quiz: TSSTSNBN* has as many hits as a Met as Carlos B. I didn;t see that coming. * The Shortstop That Shall Not Be Named.
Guest metsguyinmichigan Guests Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 I got that shortstop, but missed two 1980s players (don't want to be a spoiler.)Great quiz!

HahnSolo Old-Timey Member Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 I got 22 before giving up. The three I missed were all from different eras.Nice job, Elster.
Met Hunter Old-Timey Member Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 I got 20 of 25. Should have had 21, but I spelled one wrong and it didn't take.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 24 and 25 on the list should be 25 and 24, respectively. Otherwise, great job.Can you see which guesses come up wrong most often? That would be fun.Johnny O.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 I missed two. Given another two minutes, I likely would have gotten one of them. The other, I'm not so sure.My most desperate guess as the clock wound down? Bob Bailor.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 Thing, I listed UMDB as my source, let me know if that's not cool and I'll pull it off.[/quote:m7xng9pr]No problem. I appreciate the reference.I got 22 of 25. I missed numbers 15, 18, and 25. I'm especially surprised at missing 18.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 Got all but Millan & Hubie Brooks..oh well
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 Psst. No names in the thread, if you will. You don't want to help the ones who follow you.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 http://www.sporcle.com/games/JusticeDemon/marvelidentities[/quote:25ogvf2b]I got 65 of 100. There were many names that I had never heard of.I was surprised by the answer that showed up for Henry Pym. It doesn't seem right. And the Carl Lucas thing confused me.
Guest sharpie Guests Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 Got 22 of 25. Very nice. Hope Sporcle makes it generally available.

Surprisingly I got Henry Pym.Kicking myself for not getting Blackagar Boltagon, Duh.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 I noticed that Namor's quiz sometimes accepted more than one answer. For example, for Kitty Pryde I typed "Ariel" and it accepted that, but filled in the answer "Shadowcat."For Henry Pym, I entered "Yellowjacket" (and I assume that "Giant Man" or "Goliath" would also have worked) but the answer that displayed was "Wasp." I'm not at all up to date on recent happenings in the Marvel Universe, but I only knew of Janet Van Dyne as the Wasp. The Carl Lucas thing seemed wrong, but again, maybe there's some recent information I'm unaware of. I would have thought that his real name was Luke Cage and his hero name was "Power Man" or "Hero For Hire". (Both are pretty lame, by the way. If you have a cool name like "Luke Cage" why would you want to change it?)
metsmarathon Old-Timey Member Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 18/25, missed #2, even. his was the name most waiting on the tip of my tongue...
Chad ochoseis Old-Timey Member Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 Pretty much the same as marathon, except that I got #2 and missed #3. I think #3 would get the nod as "Most Underrated and Easily Forgotten Metly Star".TSSTSNBN* has as many hits as a Met as Carlos B. I didn;t see that coming.[/quote:2nk6yldx]A shocker to me, too. Refusing to take a pitch has its benefits, I guess.
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 they have a presidents one (i missed only Hayes) and a sports teams one with all 4 major sports, the problem there is naming them all in time, i got through the NFL and MLB and then started entering random NBA/NHL teams, ended up 25 teams short, mostly from the nhl.
Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted October 9, 2009 Author Posted October 9, 2009 24 and 25 on the list should be 25 and 24, respectively.[/quote:1bcdi2vq]Oops fixed. 25 was the right person, just a typo on the number. 25 had 610, not 620.
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 I got 21 of 25. Near the end I was just typing any Mets hitters I could think of. I would never have guessed TSSTSNBN no matter how much time they would have allowed for guessing.Nice quiz Elster.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 23/25. Missed a couple of old-timer infielders in the twenties. Most desperate misfire: Mr. Dinosaurs are a Lie.

Cage was an alias he took on after he was released from prison, having received his powers. "Power Man" was the hero name, and "Hero for Hire" was what he was (along with Iron Fist)."Ant Man" also worked for Pym.I did embarrassingly well on this. (Suffice it to say, I'd trade a 20 percent upgrade in my grasp of macroeconomics for knowing the secret identity of US Agent or the Absorbing Man anyday.)
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted October 10, 2009 Posted October 10, 2009 I scored a pitiful 18 of 100 on the Marvel Comics quiz. I essentially got the Spiderman characters, Fantastic Four characters, and several X-Men characters, Iron Man, and the Hulk. Other than that, I was pretty clueless and the names weren't even vaguely familiar to me. I did get Matt Murdoch (thanks Vic) and I knew Reed Richards and Norrin Radd if they had been on the list. I should have had one more, but the quiz refused to accept The Amazing Stevie Jeets as a correct answer for Steve Rogers. I feel I was robbed.
