1. Amazing Mets fact: Doc Taylor made his major league debut on April 11, 1962 with the Indians at Fenway Park. A 10 inning scoreless duel vs future Mets coach Bill Monbouquette. Boston tagged the good doctor for 4 in the 11th. What makes this amazing was the Mets made their major debut the same day in St Louis, Docs future WS team. The Mets are all connected if you want them to be. RIP Thanks for always being there Doc.
2. Only Gentry Koosman and Ryan remain from that postseason staff.
3. Justin falls between Wayne Garrett and Rod Gaspar alphabetically. Those names have been side by side since 1969.

5. Thought this was interesting and unusual. The Cincinnati Reds have exMets at every level this season: Reds - Collin Cowgill - First base coach Louisville AAA - Reid Cornelius - Pitching Coach Chattanooga AA - Mike Jacobs - Hitting Coach, Dick Schofield - Coach Dayton High A - Willie Blair - Pitching Coach, Tim Peterson - Performance Coach Daytona Low A - Willie Harris - Manager, Lenny Harris - Bench Coach They have one player, Alex Young from last year in AAA. He’s not on their 40.

7. The two things I saw online were a collector receiving his letter back from Gallagher where the USPS returned it marked deceased back in October. The second was a person in December that received a note back from the Mrs stating that Bob had passed. No obituary or memorial could be found online. Last known response was in June. Bob had been good to his fans through the years with mail. My guess is the Newsweek writer picked up on this and for whatever reason decided to contact the family. On another note, I met Bob at a public signing in 2006 in NJ with other lesser seen Mets Doc Medich and Johnny Stephenson. He seemed like a good guy and told my two kids to study hard in school and pay attention to Mom and Dad. Told me he was a longtime educator.
8. Newsweek sports writer Jon Paul Hoornstra published an article acknowledging Bob's passing last August. You can find the article. I couldn't find a link. In the sports autograph world his mail was being returned to collectors marked ‘deceased' since October which I believe prompted the writer to locate the info out of respect for Bob going unrecognized.
9. 4. Anthony Young 5. Juan Samuel

13. See if this link works: https://www.legacy.com/us/obituaries/name/ronald-locke-obituary?id=57095205 https://www.legacy.com/us/obituaries/name/ronald-locke-obituary?id=57095205 I met Ron some time ago. Great guy. Still fit playing ball. Injuries ended his career but to me he was the first lefty 45 the Mets had before Tug and Franco. Too bad he didn't get to show in it New York. This is the second met we found to be deceased prior to the Rickey announcement.

15. Saw some early postings that Steady Eddie passed away early this morning. First a Mets Fantasy Camper on Facebook that has since been deleted. And now Art Shamsky's girlfriend (teresataylorpro) on Instagram. Rip to Mr Met himself
16. If the team really cared, they'd correspond with the alumni. Especially the older ones. Just have them stay in touch, keep the team informed of any changes, etc. Unfortunately they do very little and I've spoken to players that notice. Some have traveled to NY and Citifield and got the ‘who are you?' treatment. I was the main guy involved in bringing Clarence Coleman back to NY and when he passed his family told me they called the Mets right away cause they felt like some of us do that these guys at the very least should be acknowledged by the fans that rooted for them while wearing the Mets uniform however long they stayed. I'm sure I'm in the minority but I'd make sure I acknowledged them. Guys like Hawk Taylor, Harry Parker and the aforementioned Danny Napoleon went quite a while before their deaths were noted. I know that's mostly on the family, some are very private, but communication wouldn't hurt.
17. Sorry just found out about this today. Many of these gents go unnoticed in their passing. I think Danny Napoleon was close to a year and a half. Here's a pic of Murph from a friend that visited him in 2014. He loved the Mets and greeted my friend wearing that hat. <ATTACHMENT
18. Per Jerry Grote's Facebook page. RIP Mac
19. Former Tiger, Met, Phillie catcher that caught Joe Carter's WS home run as a Blue Jay coach passed on June 1 at 82. There is an obituary online.
20. Other sources have the date as the prior Thursday, March 30. Horwitz not really clear in his article on Twitter.
21. Per Chuckie's Facebook page, the exMet and original Marlin has passed away at 55. It appears to have been an ongoing battle with cancer.
22. It was announced at the Met game that Teddy passed away. His obit says September 8th. Ted was a city school teacher. I met him at his home in 2001. He was ready to sell and moved south. He spent a number of years in GA and then FL. Ted was the last batter at the Polo Grounds. He hit into a game ending double play (of course) against the Phillies. He told me he ‘was robbed' on the play. The second baseman that robbed him was Cookie Rojas. The shortstop who turned two was Bobby Wine. Two future Met coaches. Of course.
23. Bob is #30 deceased from 1962. That's 30/45. Two thirds are gone now.
24. Yes. Jeff like his ML dad Jim died before his time. All in their 50s.
25. Phil Lombardi, Jeff Innis and David West were teammates in Tidewater in 1988 and the Mets in 1989 and all passed within a 360 day period.
