Guest OlerudOwned Guests Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 Have there ever been two brothers with as much platoon potential as Chris and Shelley Duncan?
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 Good question. I'll throw out Jose and Heity Cruz.

Youngish (27) yet. Absolutely no risk.Plus, we get waiver priority over virtually anybody who'd be interested.
smg58 Old-Timey Member Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 Hard to believe somebody with a .791 career OPS and a good glove has had as hard a time staying employed as Murton has. He hasn't even been up long enough to be arb eligible. There's no reason to think he couldn't be a reserve/platoon player on a good team. Why not give him a look?
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 Brad Penny, released to make room for Wagner. Five million dollars for Boston there and a 5.68 ERA. He did get seven wins, but Boston had more O to support his like. He's like high grade Tim Redding.

Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 Alyssa Milano is a witch.Outside of Justin Timberlake, every man she's been linked to has gone down. She sucks life force from them. And I'm sure --- sure as the sun's go'n shine --- that the presence of an Alyssa Milano boutique at Citi has sucked life force from the Mets.

Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 There seemed to be a gap on that list between 2005 and 2009, and I knew there was at least one other ballplayer in there. I looked it up, and there wasRussell Martin, 2007 OPS+: 113Russell Martin, 2008 OPS+: 106Russell Martin, 2009 OPS+: 82Witch.

Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 The key here, obviously, is to study Timberlake. Is it the falsetto? The popping and/or locking? The obvious Michael Jackson-homage performance tics? (Hint: It's not the MJ tics.) Isolate, and you're a good way toward a vaccine. Then, hey-- consequence-free Milano cookie!(And yeah, OO-- for a while there, LordGod King of the Douchebags was stunningly communicable.)
Valadius Old-Timey Member Posted August 27, 2009 Author Posted August 27, 2009 I say we grab Brad Penny, as we could do a lot worse.

smg58 Old-Timey Member Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 In case you needed another reason to hate the Yankees, they put a waiver claim in on Chris Carter. It won't ultimately affect his coming to the Mets, but we won't get to see him this season. Then again, he's probably much less likely to get hurt this way.
Piggiestomatoes Old-Timey Member Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 If TMFY's claimed Carter, it has to mean that every other team passed on him. What a bunch of douches. Then again, if he can't get hurt this way...

Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted September 1, 2009 Posted September 1, 2009 First Ronnie Belliard for a song. Then, at the buzzer, the Dodgers go all-in.The right-handed Garland, 29, will move into a rotation that has struggled to find a fifth starter all year and has been further weakened by the loss of Hiroki Kuroda, who was hit in the head by a line drive on Aug. 15. Garland likely takes the place of knuckleball specialist Charlie Haeger, with Vicente Padilla holding the place for Kuroda, who could return to the Dodgers' rotation as soon as this weekend.Thome, 39, gives the Dodgers a legitimate left-handed power bat off the bench at the least and has been a first baseman, although he hasn't played more than six games there in any season since 2005, being used almost exclusively as a designated hitter.
