Rocky Cherry and his milf mom sign a minor league deal with the BoSox.[/quote:35nshw4o]

Good luck to Rocky Cherry and Sweaty Betty.

Tyler Walker, released by Seattle.

"We have determined that there are other pitchers ahead of Tyler in our bullpen," said Mariners general manager Jack Zduriencik. "That drove this ultimate decision."

Yeah, thanks, Mr. Zduriencik. It really softens the blow the way you bring the polysyllabic words.

Jose Lima, joining ABN Seo's local Long Beach Armada in the Independent Golden League. Skippering Jose will be Long Beach's manager Garry Templeton.

Twist my arm, I'll go see that maniac pitch.[/quote:ga6tc6qg]
You know we can't do that.
But if you moved a little closer to your monitor ...

Jeff Keppinger, swapped from Cincy to Houston for a PTBNL.

Chan Ho Park finalizes his deal with Phillie.[/quote:2xs4svxs]

Chan Ho has earned the 5th starter spot for the Phils.

I honestly don't see how they're better than the Mets at this point.

Chan Ho evidently had a great spring and deserved it. JA Happ, whom he beat out, is still on my enemies list for beating the Mets in what I think was his big-league debut 2+ years ago.

(checking...)

EDIT, well I was half-right. Happ made his debut vs. us in 07 but we beat him. The game I was thinking of was last July 4 when we wasted a mismatch vs. Santana, lost by a run, and I completely gave up the season for the second time.

To be fair, Park had a decent season (mostly in relief) for the Dodgers last year after only pitching 4 innings for the Mets in '07.

Anna Benson, minor league deal with Texas.[/quote:4ycjamu2]

Kris made the big league club and will be in the Rangers rotation.

Another Met who won't be continuing on with a lesser team in 2009...

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- The Minnesota Twins are addressing their bullpen needs, claiming pitcher Juan Morillo off waivers and designating Philip Humber for assignment.

Humber came to the Twins from the New York Mets in the Johan Santana trade. The right-hander must first clear waivers before being sent to the minors.

Humber has a 12.46 ERA over 4 1-3 innings this season. Against Toronto on Thursday, he gave up six hits, three runs and an intentional walk.

Wow. Seems like not that long ago when the debate was whether the Mets should be including Humber or Pelfrey in the Santana deal.

I've noticed Yusmeiro Petit's name in a few box scores for the 'Snakes recently.

I really liked Yusmeiro Petit. In my bizarro-Mets computer baseball world, he was never traded him and became a HoF starter, winning a couple of Cy Youngs in the process. Even though he never made it, he's a Met to me.

Darren O'Day, claimed by Texas off of waivers. Now they have to roster him all year or he will go back to Los Angeles.

His time as a Met is done, apparently. 3 IP, 5 H, 1 BB, 2K, 0 ER (2 unearned runs).

Dag. EZ come, EZ Go.

Saw where David Newhan was named player-coach of the Phils' Lehigh Valley AAA team.

Truly funny uniform situation as O'Day is just coming in for the Rangers, wearing the #30 of Kason Gabbard. Funny scene as he has to meet all the infielders for the first time on the mound, and he and Salty have to quickly figure out the signs. "What the hell do you throw, anyway?"

He literally made it to the SkyDome (or whatever) about 20 minutes ago, where he's getting called on in the 11th inning where the Texas pen is apparently depleted. (Announcers say Everyday Eddie is the only one available yet to pitch.)

Situation is 1st and 2nd, one out after an IBB to Rolen.

Michael F. Young capped a fun-filled 3-run top of the 9th with a HR to send it to extras:

I. Kinsler grounded into fielder's choice, C. Davis to third, J. Saltalamacchia out at second, C. Davis scored, I. Kinsler to second on second baseman A. Hill's throwing error
- J. Hamilton grounded out to shortstop, I. Kinsler scored
- M. Young homered to deep center

---

On edit: And he throws about 18 balls out of the strike zone before serving up a meatball (TV guys say "he sorta hung a curve" -- yeah, and Joe Morgan is sorta an idiot) to Kevin Millaaaaaaaaaaaaaah.

Deja - WHO?

In the early print edition of today's Daily News, it said:
NY Mets: Placed pitcher Kris Benson on the 15 day disabled list...

I couldn't find a link on their website this evening.
Anyone else notice it?

Apparently Figueroa didn't get any nibbles in FA and now will report to Buffalo. Good -- more SP depth isn't a bad thing when your 2-5 starters are collectively pooing and barfing on the mound every turn.

Brian Bannister, looking good and, best of all, feeling good. From Yahoo! Sports:

RHP Brian Bannister has given credit to Dr. Andrew Jacobs, the Royals' psychologist, for helping him out of pitching jams. "We work on different scenarios and go through certain things between innings," Bannister said. "It's been awesome. Just trying to get on a better tempo, refocus and just get ahead and throw strikes. It's been a real blessing to have him along. Obviously, I was frustrated with walking all those people (six on Monday), but we focused on taking all the negatives and turning them into positives. The way they were taking swings, I could tell they were frustrated -- just as frustrated as I was.

Heilman pitched to 6 batters in the 10th

All 6 scored. First meltdown all year.

Good. Hopefully he's been properly humbled. As Fman (does anybody else mentally pronounce that as one awkward syllable?) said, it's good to have the depth.[/quote:3jfgrj2r]

In my own head, I pronounce it as "Eff-man." But this is subject to personal interpretation.
