Guest themetfairy Guests Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 It's time to invoke the Mercy Rule.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 14, 2008 Author Posted October 14, 2008 Don't throw dirt on them too quickly, they were down 3 games to 1 last year also.11-2 Rays heading to the 8th.

Johan Santana clearly did not, and did all he could to get the Mets into October, it just wasn't enough in the end.
stevejrogers Old-Timey Member Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 Hey, Val must be happy, Mike Timlin just tied Mariano Rivera with the most appearances in postseason history! No doubt he'll break that record tomorrow night or if the series gets back to Tampa. Why yes I'll be cracking jokes at Val's expense on the issue of MFYs holding any sort of record for a little while longer.

Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted October 15, 2008 Posted October 15, 2008 Playing at Fenway doesn't appear to be offering much advantage for the Sox against the Rays.

metirish Old-Timey Member Posted October 15, 2008 Posted October 15, 2008 Not a fun series to watch at all , Tampa are just too good for the Sox.I won't miss Fuck Martinez in the booth either.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted October 15, 2008 Posted October 15, 2008 I haven't been watching at all, so somebody has to tell me:Are the Rays good enough to beat the Phillies? That's all I care about.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted October 15, 2008 Posted October 15, 2008 Yes they are , in fact I think that would be a great series. Tampa are pretty much a complete team. I would give them the edge in pitching , starting and bullpen , hitting might be closer but overall I would think Tampa will win.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted October 15, 2008 Posted October 15, 2008 One more thing while I'm here. I won't miss TBS when this series in done with. I know some here have no time for pre-game stuff but the TBS one is even worse than the usual tripe. Dennis Eckersley and Cal Ripken with the terrible Ernie Johnson. Now, why would TBS have Craig Sager explain the nuances of the knuckleball when you have Ron Darling in the booth?
soupcan Old-Timey Member Posted October 15, 2008 Posted October 15, 2008 I think if its a Tampa-Philly Series, I'd have to go with the Rays.As much as they are both cruising through this postseason, Tampa looks like they have no weaknesses.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 15, 2008 Author Posted October 15, 2008 Keep in mind that game 2 went 11 innings and this could easily be a two games each series right now.The other Tampa wins have been blowouts but so was the game before the Sox started their coemback vs the Yanx. You're never as good as you look when you're winning and never ... blah blah.Having said all that, the BoSox offense is suddenly looking old and/or injured.

stevejrogers Old-Timey Member Posted October 15, 2008 Posted October 15, 2008 Watch it you piss taker you.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted October 15, 2008 Posted October 15, 2008 (edited) Things the Sox can do to get back in this series.....please add to these tasks.Have fun , be loose hit their pitches , on the flip side the Sox pitchers need to make their pitcheskeep the hitters of balancework the countget the lead off man on , although only he himself can do thathave fun guys... bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted October 15, 2008 Posted October 15, 2008 "play their gamestay within themselves"That's the Red Sox advice? Funny, but that's the same thing that Carl Crawford said when asked after last night's game what the Rays have to do to win Game 5.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted October 15, 2008 Posted October 15, 2008 And that's the point bmfc.....these "things to do "can help all the teams achieve what they want.Ray and Phillies must not get too excited..shouldn't look past this next gameremember what got them here
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted October 15, 2008 Posted October 15, 2008 Rays manager switches starters for game five. Kazmir will start and not Shields.
Valadius Old-Timey Member Posted October 15, 2008 Posted October 15, 2008 I really like the Rays. They're reincarnating the '69 Mets with this season.
stevejrogers Old-Timey Member Posted October 15, 2008 Posted October 15, 2008 Rays flip-flop Shields and Kazmir.Kazmir will now start Game 5 vs. Dice-K.Heh, wonder how many Met fans out there are hoping he get lit up the way Lester did Monday night.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted October 15, 2008 Posted October 15, 2008 Heh , wonder if he'll get tight like the 2005 yankees.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted October 15, 2008 Posted October 15, 2008 In the right thread, probably.Congrats to the Phillies, I say. They deserve it.

Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 God I hope the Rays can finish off the Sawx.A Phillies/Red Sox World Series just sickens me.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 Buck Martinez on facing Dice-K " see your pitch and square up to it"Ron Darling " wait for your pitch and hit it"...
