metirish Old-Timey Member Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 Kazmir is utterly dominating the Sox.
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 Looks like the World Series will be a match up of one of baseball's oldest franchises versus one of baseball's youngest franchises. And only one previous Championship total for both franchises. Fascinating.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 16, 2008 Author Posted October 16, 2008 Not so fast sez Papi (3R HR) and JD Drew (2R HR).7-6 Rays in the 8th.
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 Everyone who's gone to bed and/or "not interested in watching" is missing a good game. An AL-stlye, long-ass game, but a good one nonetheless.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 16, 2008 Author Posted October 16, 2008 This reminds me a bit of last year. I was pulling for Cleveland but when Boston got down 3 games to 1 I started rooting for them simply to make it a better series. 3 games later and it was the seriously, I just used a racist word when I really meant "Guardians" who were going home.

They're kicking themselves now, but will probably would walk out/go to bed again should the Sox fall behind in a game 6.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 16, 2008 Author Posted October 16, 2008 Rays put two on in top 9 but Sox get the GiDP ball and nwo have a chance to win it in their half.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 Chip Caray is an awful announcer. My personal favorite tonight was "The comeback to end all comebacks!"
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 Gwreck wrote:Chip Caray is an awful announcer. My personal favorite tonight was "The comeback to end all comebacks!"O my. That is bad. This is the last frame I'm watching so let's hope it ends now.(definitely rooting for the Sox to make this series interesting again)
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 16, 2008 Author Posted October 16, 2008 I'm finding that I barely even listen to play-by-play announcers. They're just kind of white noise during the game but as long as they're not overbearing (Chris Berman) not much they say bothers me.The color guy(s) make or break a team much moreso for me and Darling & Martinez are good enough so that I barely notice Carey.
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 Sox win.Playoff baseball is fun.I won't be surprised if TB still takes the series though.

Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted October 17, 2008 Posted October 17, 2008 I'm not interested in watching, and I guess I missed a good game.No regrets, though. I'm enjoying NOT watching baseball.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted October 17, 2008 Posted October 17, 2008 It must suck to have your bullpen blow such a big lead.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted October 17, 2008 Posted October 17, 2008 Yeah, another reason I'm glad I didn't watch. Since I'd be rooting for the Rays, it's just as well that I didn't see that debacle.
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted October 17, 2008 Posted October 17, 2008 Kind of made me think I was watching a historic reenactment of a typical Mets-Phillies game, w/ Boston playing as the Phillies.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted October 17, 2008 Posted October 17, 2008 Did Kazmir not start the 7th inning , I left the game after watching him get through the 6th with not a lot of stress.

HahnSolo Old-Timey Member Posted October 17, 2008 Posted October 17, 2008 Can't believe I watched till the end.question: do the Rays not have a defensive replacement in RF for Gross? He made a horrendous throw on Crisp's single to tie the game, then didn't come close to a catchable game - winning hit.
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted October 17, 2008 Posted October 17, 2008 Rays fans are probably wondering why Kazmir was pulled, although in Maddon's defense, the top of the 7th inning was more than 30 minutes long.
Guest AG/DC Guests Posted October 17, 2008 Posted October 17, 2008 I guess Rocco Baldelli --- who incidentally almost killed a guy on Monday when he hit a fan in the face with a drive --- would be the best available glove. I haven't been watching --- or even following very closely --- and don't know if he's under limited availalility due to his mitochondrial disease.Rocco is a hero.
