Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 Leadoff single for Marlon Anderson.Hopefully Pelfrey bunts him over successfully and sets up that run that he'll need.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 I don't think I would have recognized Art Shamsky if he bit me on the ankle. (And he better not!) He tells a story about pinch-hitting for Frank Robinson in Cincinnati as Pelfrey takes a third strike.Jose batting.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 Stevie Jeets last night, BG today. I'm enjoying the solo IGTs.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 Yeah, but I'M working on a scoreless no-hitter!
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 With two out and Castillo batting, Anderson swipes second.Castillo, by not running hard earlier, has cost the Mets a run. (He could have scored on that dropped fly ball earlier.)Castillo walks as I'm typing this.Cue David Wright...
Guest AG/DC Guests Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 Hey, Mets offense! Bergman came into this thing with an 11.68 ERA
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 Wright pops it up.Scoreless through 5.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 Chrissake , am I going to miss a Mets no-hitter ?
HahnSolo Old-Timey Member Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 (edited) 74 pitches through 5 1/3 for Pelphrey.Make it 75 through 5 2/3 as Guzman grounds out on teh first pitch. Edited May 15, 2008 by Guest

Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 Strikeout ends the top of the sixth!Nine outs to go! (Assuming, of course, that the Mets score a run. Come on, guys!)

Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 I have to say, I've grown to like that the Mets have never had a no-hitter. I am rooting for this to happen, but I think the first Mets no-hitter, if it ever happens, should be quirky or weird in some way.Beltran and Church are out. Delgado batting in the sixth.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 Howie Rose is in the "booth."His favorite Shea memory is Seaver's imperfect game in 1969.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 I'm very conflicted here , if it is to happen I want to see it.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 Wow!More concerned we score a run now, but ... um... wow.

Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 Delgado fans for the third out.If Pelfrey gets through this next inning without giving up a hit, Willie HAS to let him take his turn at the plate! Even if it's two out nobody on.He HAS to!
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 Keith's on camera heckling a hot-dog vendor for the "outrageous" prices.

He has told me about it many times.
Guest AG/DC Guests Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 Well, there goes that memory. How about a win?
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 It's Namor's fault!A complete-game shutout is about as rare as a no-hitter these days, so let's root for that.I want that first Mets no-hitter to be in Game 7 of the 2008 World Series, in the final game ever played at Shea!THAT would be special.
