Guest AG/DC Guests Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 Rauch doesn't scare me against lefties.Though he does scare me as a person. On the steet. And in my dreams.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 Luis Ayala in to pitch. One of the few remaining Nationals who had been Expos.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 Reyes on with an infield hit.He swung away, but it came off the bat like a perfect bunt down the third base line.

Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 Castillo bunts, Reyes dashes for third! And is tagged out!
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 You'll have to see that tag on the replay. The thirdbaseman was running towards the bag, caught the ball behind him and as he was running reached behind him and tagged Reyes. (This was after Castillo was thrown out at first.)

Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 And a promising inning ends with Wright popping up.Urrrrgh.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 That's a bad move while trailing.
Guest AG/DC Guests Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 I don't know how I feel about this. Reyes is forcing the issue, and that says some good and some bad. It really takes the bat out of Wright's hand, but that's been a good strategy of late.Did Alomar waive him over?
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 Howie & Wayne give praise to Guzman for getting the throw... but don't question the merits of the attempt. Between Castillo's lack of hustle on the dropped fly and Reyes' risky try, the Mets may lose this game because of baserunning.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 After the commercial, Howie says that Jose slowed down before 2nd so he said that if you're gonna do what Reyes did, you have to be at full speed.

Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 Early in the game he was on first with two out and Wright flied out to right field. The outfielder dropped the ball and Castillo, had he been running hard, would have scored. It did take an extraordinary play to get Reyes out. And he did hesitate at second before deciding to make the dash. (I don't know what Alomar's role in this was, if anything. It did look like Reyes was looking to third, rather than to first, before he dashed to third.)Keith was tsk-tsking the decision.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 Earlier in the game, with 2 out, Castillo was on 1st and Wright hit a lazy fly ball to RF. It hung up for awhile, then Kearns dropped it. Castillo was shown trotting toward first and only started running as he approached third. DW didn't run either and only ended up on first. Beltran lined out to end in the inning.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 A runner has got to be on his own on that play as it's all in front of him. That dash to the (briefly) unoccupied 3rd base is the same one that got Jeter's shoulder fucked up a couple years back as he, the ball, and the catcher doing the emergency coverage all arrived at the same time.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 Nationals scoreless in the ninth. It's going to come down to Beltran, Church, and Delgado. Are the Mets really on the verge of losing three of four to Washington?Yeesh.
Guest Grote15 Guests Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 Just got home..well pitched game it appears...Cy Bergman was untouchable.Did Reyes make the third out on that play at third? Hope notRALLY POST

Guest Grote15 Guests Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 They need music to get a Lets go Mets going?Willie harris?Oh shitfuck
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 Willie Harris makes a Swoboda-like play near the left-field line to rob Church of a game-tying extra base hit.
Guest AG/DC Guests Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 Harris probably should pull up and play that on a hop, no?Just like Swoboda should have.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 SB Beltran, to third on a throwing error.
Guest metsguyinmichigan Guests Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 Delgado looking for redemption here!
