I don't think I would have recognized Art Shamsky if he bit me on the ankle. (And he better not!)

He tells a story about pinch-hitting for Frank Robinson in Cincinnati as Pelfrey takes a third strike.

Jose batting.

With two out and Castillo batting, Anderson swipes second.

Castillo, by not running hard earlier, has cost the Mets a run. (He could have scored on that dropped fly ball earlier.)

Castillo walks as I'm typing this.

Cue David Wright...

Hey, Mets offense! Bergman came into this thing with an 11.68 ERA

74 pitches through 5 1/3 for Pelphrey.

Make it 75 through 5 2/3 as Guzman grounds out on teh first pitch.

Chrissake , am I going to miss a Mets no-hitter ?

You might! Pelfrey now has two outs in the sixth.

There hasn't been a no-hitter at Shea since Bob Moose! (Shamsky says he made the last out.)

Strikeout ends the top of the sixth!

Nine outs to go! (Assuming, of course, that the Mets score a run. Come on, guys!)

Course it would be the Mets luck to finally get a no-hitter, but end up losing the game, which MLB has decreeded aren't official no-hitters.

I have to say, I've grown to like that the Mets have never had a no-hitter. I am rooting for this to happen, but I think the first Mets no-hitter, if it ever happens, should be quirky or weird in some way.

Beltran and Church are out. Delgado batting in the sixth.

The Mets do not have bad luck any more than anybody else.

Delgado fans for the third out.

If Pelfrey gets through this next inning without giving up a hit, Willie HAS to let him take his turn at the plate! Even if it's two out nobody on.

He HAS to!

My father attended the Bob Moose no hitter in 1969. He has told me about it many times.

Well, there goes that memory.

How about a win?

It's Namor's fault!

A complete-game shutout is about as rare as a no-hitter these days, so let's root for that.

I want that first Mets no-hitter to be in Game 7 of the 2008 World Series, in the final game ever played at Shea!

THAT would be special.
