Guest AG/DC Guests Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 I know what you're thinking this season. You're thinking, "Oh, boy! I'm off to see the Mets, maybe for the last time ever at Shea!"But if you're like me, you're also a bit reflective, thinking, "If this is my last date with the old girl, I don't want to wear just anything."I know that's what's been troubling my thoughts. Boy, howdy. I mean, sure, I'm donning the orange pants. But then what?Well, we here at the Crane Pool sense the uneasiness in your troubled spirits. That's why, periodically throughout this glorious final year, we'll be offering specially designed attire (and other merchandiese) developed for your Met-viewing pleasure and romantic side trips. Several designers will be offering their wares, and, with the flash of a credit card, you too could find yourself sitting a box at Shea, hearing the thoughts of the boo-birds around you thinking, "I wish I could be like that fan. God, I hate my life!"Our first design features two loves of Crane Poolers --- Mets baseball and rock 'n' roll --- all mashed into a glorious dichotomy: On your backs... Come on! Get the Crane Pool on your backs! (Pay no attention to those seeming shadowy boxes that seem to be around some of the designs on the shirts. It's a computer issue and it's not really on the shirt. I checked, okay?)Yeah, it's pretty cool. And if you want to know the time, that design can look up and greet you and tell you always Mets time....I know you're thinking, "But AG, will that piece of wonderful garb actually tell me accurate time?" I tell you right here and now that I am wearing the precious timepiece, and it came preset with the correct time!Countless hours of goofing off has gone into this project. Any and all revenues garnered from the sale of this fine apparel goes to the support and nurturing of the Crane Pool Forum. That's right, buy good stuff and there's no more passing the hat. If we make extra change, we'll pave KC's driveway with gold. Gold! Hah, suckers! (No seriously, extra funds will go to CPF-certified charitable interests.)View this design on these items and more in the Crane Pool Store. Enjoy your shopping and watch for this and future desgins on coffee mugs and mousepads and other leading giftware.See you at Shea, you fashionable devils!
Guest Kong76 Guests Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 Great work by you and the Zeeman. Gotta show the back.
Guest Kong76 Guests Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 Lol, it's not a hoax. Zvon designed the logo, Edgewardo set up the CPF mall. Buy 'em today before the attorneys at Sire Records get a good look at thebird with the bat ;-)
Guest themetfairy Guests Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 Very cool!I decided to go with the wristwatch.Let's see - USPS delivery, free. Fed Ex - $30. I guess that was an easy choice - LOL
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 My better half is possibly the world's biggest Ramones fan (as in, a mini statue of Joey stands in our living room). When I showed her the picture, her comment was "Oh my god, I need one of these NOW."
Batty31 Old-Timey Member Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 Freakin' Cool! And that's my favorite Ramones logo! I'll be picking up a shirt and definitely NOT the one with the pink sleeves.I see my guess on the design was very close, Edgy.
Guest AG/DC Guests Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 Lots of variety in the marketplace, now and in the future. And, yes, your better half needs one NOW.And yours and yours and yours.

MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted May 11, 2008 Posted May 11, 2008 Maybe this is from before I joined the board, but what does "Gabba" mean?Is it an acronym?I'd like to know before I would get a shirt with that on it.Later
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted May 11, 2008 Posted May 11, 2008 Ah,maybe that's why it didn't mean anything to me.I don't think I would recognize a Ramones song if one were playing right now.Or recognize one of the Ramones if one should knock at my door.Thanks.Later
A Boy Named Seo Old-Timey Member Posted May 11, 2008 Posted May 11, 2008 Those are bitchin'. Great work.
Guest Kong76 Guests Posted May 11, 2008 Posted May 11, 2008 To be clear, a portion of the shirt price will go to reducing the community chest deficit. Last year's deficit was over $100 and we're at $80 now. We've never ventured into fund raising and I applaud Zvon and AG forputting his together.I'll update the CC with results just as I would if someone sent in a payment. If anyone has any issues with this whole concept, please let us know herein this thread.Gabba gabba Shea -- freakin' classic.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted May 11, 2008 Posted May 11, 2008 They look great ! I sent the enlarged images AG.] I tell you right here and now that I am wearing the precious timepiece, and it came preset with the correct time! Im thinkin that was a coincedence.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted May 11, 2008 Posted May 11, 2008 These are great.cha-ching!
Guest AG/DC Guests Posted May 11, 2008 Posted May 11, 2008 Yeah, Zvon sent larger images to go on the shirts. I'll have them updated early tomorrow, before this weekend's orders get fulfilled, but please feel free to hold off until I confirm that the update has been done.

G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted May 11, 2008 Posted May 11, 2008 I really like the inclusion of Grote of all the "ee"s that could have been chosen.
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted May 11, 2008 Posted May 11, 2008 Wow a double derivative logo. I'll have to order one.

batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted May 12, 2008 Posted May 12, 2008 G-Fafif wrote:I really like the inclusion of Grote of all the "ee"s that could have been chosen. They could've even done an all-Manager shirt what with Casey, Salty, Yogi, Davey, Buddy, Bobby and Willie to choose from. And Joey, I guess.
Guest AG/DC Guests Posted May 12, 2008 Posted May 12, 2008 On and off, for a few weeks, and then I had to wait with great anxiety for the prototypes to reach me in the mail, before maiking final adjustments. Call it a month. But we have others in the works.Grote is actually a vestige of an earlier design when I was going for the best soundalikes for Johnny-Joey-DeeDee-Marky and went with Swannie-Grote-Reedy-Hardtke. That would have been more fun, but only for about 10 minutes, and we wanted something with some legs. (Plus, who ever called him "Reedy"?)KC suggested that we go with Mets representing each era, and Grote survived, because, well, you don't get too many chances to give Tom Seaver back the cold shoulder he's given to the fans these many years since his retirement. So his red-ass catcher gets the nod, alongside three of the otherwise fan-friendliest Met legends.
Guest Kong76 Guests Posted May 12, 2008 Posted May 12, 2008 I think my wife came up with the Mookie and Mikey after looking at that first email image in like three seconds. Mikey don't even like being calledMikey if I remember correctly but that's too bad and hey, we're im-mortalizing him in thread so he should just keep his mouth shut.Gw, that's a cool picture. Love the shades.
soupcan Old-Timey Member Posted May 12, 2008 Posted May 12, 2008 Totally awesome.Love it.Left the thread before I finished reading it to go order mine.Excellent job guys.

That image seems to mean something to everyone but me! (My first thought was that it was the National League logo.)
