Tonight in the third inning he struck out Felipe Lopez for 3,000 career strikeouts , Smoltz becomes the 16th pitcher to reach 3,000.

I have always enjoyed watching Smoltz pitch , so crafty yet can still dial it up to high heat.

Anyway congrats on 3,000.

I'm not quite sure the reason, but despite his being a lifelong Brave, I have always liked Smoltz. He seems to be the type of player I would want on my team if I was a manager.

Congratulations to Smoltz for reaching a milestone in his long and illustrious career.

Actually out of the three, the only one I couldn't stand was Maddux. I thought both Smoltz and Glavine were upstanding guys and would have welcomed either on the Mets.

Now I know Glavine to be a worthless fucksmith. Who knows. Maybe I'd hate Smoltz if he pitched here too.

Yeah. Glavine's greatest sin was daring to put on a Mets uniform.

...and sucking in the Mets uniform.
...and frequently running up the pitch count and leaving the game after 5 innings.
...and losing to the Braves pretty much every time out.
...and selfishly putting pursuit of individual milestones ahead of the team.
...giving up nine runs in 4.1 innings and having the nerve to slam his teammates in the postgame interview.
...and being a clubhouse cancer.
...and completely blowing the last chance the Mets had to get into the playoffs in 2007.

Other than that he was a peach.

What Willets said.

Never liked Smoltz, but that said, it's a nice accomplishment for a guy who's going to make a really interesting HoF discussion.

I can respect him (more precisely his accomplishment).
But I don't like him. He's a Brave.

Like Glavine, I come from a long line of fucksmiths, but we're far from worthless.

Could this include guys who did it and then moved on subsequent to number 3000?

Forget it, the answers are the Big Train and Rapid Robert.

You each got one right; it's Gibson & Johnson

Feller never got to 3K (lost 3 years to WWII) and Palmer surprisingly never came close (2,212)
