Actually, the more I learn about legit Scrabble words the more I think that ALL 800+ names would be allowed.

Nope. Seaver, Gooden, Dykstra, Wilson, and Hundley are not allowed for starters. Reyes, Beltran, Delgado, and Santana are also no-no's, although maybe they're permitted in the Spanish-language version of Scrabble.

I think GARRETT might be legal as a variant spelling of GARRET. Couldn't get Willets' link to work - it might be blocked from the office.

Valid Scrabble word or not, which Met would have the most points in his name?

It's got to be MIENTKIEWICZ due to the M, K, W, C, & Z not to mention the length of the name.

No fair giving credit for those double-Z names - one of those Z's would have to be a blank.

The best non-Mientkiewicz name I could come up with sans Excel was Zachry, which scores 23.

Yeah, I've got plenty of time on my hands, too.

I think agee is a kind of woodwork or joint or something

Don Aase is not only the first Met alphabetically, but he's probably worth the fewest points in Scrabble.

="Rockin' Doc"]If I'm not mistaken, I believe you are thinking of ogee. Ogee is an edge treatment used in comtertops and woodworking. It is also an archetectural detail for an arch with a reverse curve near the apex.

Thank you! I googled and googled and couldn't find it...ogee is what I was thinking of

I didn't do that character nearly as well as a better forumite would have. I wanted him to have the timing of Gus Shiavani (?) and the humor of Purveyor of Pomposity IV.

That's really the only good reason to be on Facebook. And yes, I'm addicted to Scrabulous.
