Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted September 29, 2007 Posted September 29, 2007 ="metsguyinmichigan"]"and to think it actually has some kind of effect is just plain dumb."I was pretty sure that a bunch of guys typing on a computer didn't really have an effect on the game on the field. Just a silly tradition, and that's OK. Now, me wearing my lucky Mets cap right now.....Im wearing my white 62-86 25th Anniversary hat. This cap had logged some miles. Not sure you can call this white anymore.A 2 out single to...third, huh?Well how bout that?Howd that look?

metirish Old-Timey Member Posted September 29, 2007 Posted September 29, 2007 Al had 15 in 1999 against the Cubs, great game John.

metsmarathon Old-Timey Member Posted September 29, 2007 Posted September 29, 2007 motherfucker - its all my fault. i've been spending the entire afternoon making some darn' tasty chili for tomorrow, and its time for the meat & tomatoes to simmer for an hour, so i figure i can clean up my desk, so i turn on the tv, sit down, and there goes the bleeder.i know better. sorry.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted September 29, 2007 Posted September 29, 2007 just checked, he was up to 113 pitches.WowWHAT A FUCKIN PERFORMANCE!
A Boy Named Seo Old-Timey Member Posted September 29, 2007 Posted September 29, 2007 ="Zvon"]And Willie pulls Maine?Had to. There's still a shot he has to pitch next week. No point in having him throw 130 pitches in a blowout, right?Nice picture from the Yahoo site. Adorable kid. Can't spell, but adorable just the same.

Guest metsguyinmichigan Guests Posted September 29, 2007 Posted September 29, 2007 Heck could he throw an inning or two on Monday (if it comes to that?)
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted September 29, 2007 Posted September 29, 2007 Phils game is underway. And Zimmerman doubles Belliard in from 1st as Burrell shows that he knows how to juggle while playing left.1-0 Nats
Guest martin Guests Posted September 29, 2007 Posted September 29, 2007 i went to a couple games this week. it is absolutely incredible how fast the crowd reacts to good news on the OOT scoreboard. whole crowd knows wasssup in 5 seconds or less.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted September 29, 2007 Posted September 29, 2007 Perfectly reasonable move by Willie. Of course, my queasiness factor in going to the bullpen even with four outs to protect a 12-0 lead is stilll 26%.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted September 29, 2007 Posted September 29, 2007 (edited) Man--if we ever needed just what we got today.I mean, this might even eclipse Leiters mastery of Cincinnati in '99.Maybe not, maybe equal to,...but the way things have been going,...I dunno. One of the top 5 best pitched games in Met history, even if the Fish rally for runs before its over. Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted September 29, 2007 Posted September 29, 2007 I just saw the infield single.Wow---after seeing that--we are not gonna get on in my lifetime, are we?I mean, can a ball be hit any worse and can a hit be any cheaper?
Guest martin Guests Posted September 29, 2007 Posted September 29, 2007 incredible athleticism by gomez, sliding away from a collision with gotay and extending his arm to grab that ball. now lets go nats!

Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted September 29, 2007 Posted September 29, 2007 I was going to go with a Bond movie from 2002 that also includes the word die, but after some consideration, I'm going with this, from 1973.Kill em Nats. Murderize em!
Valadius Old-Timey Member Posted September 29, 2007 Posted September 29, 2007 HOLY SHIT.A tiny glimmer of hope has just returned for me.
Guest Rotblatt Guests Posted September 29, 2007 Posted September 29, 2007 The best-played game by the Mets that I've ever been too, even taking into account Reyes failing to run out his squibber (which, by the way, Willie absolutely should have benched his ass for). Maine had me believing, even though I knew his pitch count was high. By the fifth, I was thinking, "Well, if we miss out on the playoffs, but get a no-hitter here, I'd almost call it a wash." Amazing. I've never seen a better pitching performance in person. Crowd was in good form--lots of early support early. Great game, great win, and hope is alive!
