Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted September 29, 2007 Posted September 29, 2007 Willie should pull Reyes and Milledge for Gomez and Hernandez.Seriously. (11 run lead? No problem pulling them both).
Guest metsguyinmichigan Guests Posted September 29, 2007 Posted September 29, 2007 Zvon, sweet SI -- er, CPI cover! If the NATS help us out a little today all will be forgiven!
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 29, 2007 Posted September 29, 2007 Oh wow!!!A rocket to 3rd bounces off Wright ... and goes right to Reyes who throws to 1st to get the out.THAT makes you think something's up.
Guest metsguyinmichigan Guests Posted September 29, 2007 Posted September 29, 2007 Right now I'm feeling pretty happy that Anna Benson had a big mouth.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 29, 2007 Posted September 29, 2007 "How does shortstop Ramirez get pulled with a wrist injury after a homer to left?"Huh?Ramirez got hit w/a pitch (although ruled a foul) and was pulled after finishing that AB.

seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted September 29, 2007 Posted September 29, 2007 Okay, we turned the game on. I can't miss this, as much as I hate this team right now.
Guest metsguyinmichigan Guests Posted September 29, 2007 Posted September 29, 2007 Nice K after going 3-0.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 29, 2007 Posted September 29, 2007 Magic numbers for this game right now are 7 and 13
Guest metsguyinmichigan Guests Posted September 29, 2007 Posted September 29, 2007 Beltran's not having an especially good game. Not complaining. Just surprised by the 6 LOB.

To be calling a game when something momentous is happening and NOT say so is irresponsible, not to mention stupid. (the TV booth has acknowledged it several times since my initial post btw).Besides, the whole superstition is that no one is supposed to mention TO THE PITCHER that he's in the midst of a no-no lest you spook him into a case of the heebie-geebies. To transfer that to announcers, fans, and the man on the street is silly ... and to think it actually has some kind of effect is just plain dumb.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted September 29, 2007 Posted September 29, 2007 GANG RAPE!METS TO THE RESCUE!
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted September 29, 2007 Posted September 29, 2007 But adds to the fun.Florida now paying for grabbing Carvajal from us off waivers. Like they aren't brandishing enough from our farm system.
Guest metsguyinmichigan Guests Posted September 29, 2007 Posted September 29, 2007 "and to think it actually has some kind of effect is just plain dumb."I was pretty sure that a bunch of guys typing on a computer didn't really have an effect on the game on the field. Just a silly tradition, and that's OK. Now, me wearing my lucky Mets cap right now.....
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted September 29, 2007 Posted September 29, 2007 Wow, Shawn Green subbing in for Delgado.I agree that he's outplayed Carlos over there (though Carlos can pick), I just wasn't thinking he had attained that sort of defensive sub respect to step in and help close out a himdy jimdy.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 29, 2007 Posted September 29, 2007 Jacobs = K --->>> #14 ... 5 to go.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted September 29, 2007 Posted September 29, 2007 KKKKKKKKKKKKKKHelp me out. That seems like as much as any Met not from Fresno or Tampa has ever complied in a game. Am I correct?
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted September 29, 2007 Posted September 29, 2007 Who is Paul Hoover?Just anonymous enough to scare me, that name.
Guest metsguyinmichigan Guests Posted September 29, 2007 Posted September 29, 2007 One of my co-workers is friends with someone who used to cover the Phillies for the Camden paper. One night several years ago, he called her up from the press box to tell her to turn the game on because a pitcher was having -- and he worded it carefully -- a game in which no one had reached base safely."And she blurted out, "You mean he's throwing a (phrase deleted by me)"The writer said "NOOOOOOOO."Two pitches later -- well, you can guess.
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted September 29, 2007 Posted September 29, 2007 FUCK a fucking infield single

Just a silly tradition, and that's OK. Of course. We just shouldn't think that the announcers are bound by the silliness of fan thinking or get mad at them when they don't.
Guest metsguyinmichigan Guests Posted September 29, 2007 Posted September 29, 2007 Tip of the cap to Mr. Maine. Closest we've been in a long time.
