Milwaukee... I like Fielder, Sheets, Hart, and theres really nobody on the team i dislike. The fans deserve to see some playoffs.
Chicago... no thanks. I don't want the Mets playing playoff games at Wrigley.
St Louis... I HATE this team, you shouldnt make the playoffs at 82-80 and its even more disgusting that they might be given the chance to defend their title with a similiarly disgusting record. On the other hand, They'd be the easiest opponent for the Mets out of these 3 teams.

I could go with any of those three. Probably the Brew Crew just for the satisfaction of Milwaukee finally getting into the postseason for the first time since 1982.

I agree it would look kind of bad if another team made it to the World Series for the second straight season with less than 85 wins. Its one thing for the 1973 Mets (82-79) to sneak in the World Series and darn nearly win it all, but thats supposed to be an every-now-and then occurance.

If something like the Cards of last year winning, you almost set yourself up for baseball turning into the "forced parity" of the NFL where now teams can sputter early on, finish and make the playoffs at 8-8 or 9-7 and have as good of a shot at winning the title as the big 13-3 teams because "on any given Sunday..."

Also it gives teams a false sense of security in terms of making changes for the next season.

I had a good time in Milwaukee last year and they have a friendly, faithful fan base, so I think I'll root for the Brewers.

If we want to see one of these teams in the 1st round of the playoffs I think we have to root for the Phillies to win the WC, assuming we have best record which I thnk we will. No?

I'm kinda worried that whoever winds up being the Wild Card will be a hot team for us to face right away.

Eh. My bigger worry is that if we get San Diego as a wild card team, they have Peavy and Young pitching at least 3 of the 5 games.

I'm going with the Brewers. Milwaukee is playoff-starved and they have a good young team. I want the Cubs to be playing next season as the 100th anniversary of their last championship. Screw the Cards.

I've been giving this some thought independently. I'm of four minds (hey, I could run for office!):

1) I don't care because the Mets are in playoff contention. I can't be in the business of worrying about other teams, especially ones we might play if things go well.

2) The Mets and Cubs would be a sensational NLCS from a historical standpoint. Deep down I view the rivalry with the Braves as a passing fancy. It's the Cubs who I've hated the longest. It would just fuel so much passion all around (not that we as Mets fans need to fuel our passion in October, just thinking in terms of the storyline).

3) Agree, theoretically (because doing so in actuality collides with my karmatic impulses), with the would love to kick the Cardinals' ass sentiment. It would also, objectively, be a somewhat astounding story to see them come all the way back from where they were.

4) I voted Brewers. I was just in Milwaukee and those folks welcomed them back from a horrible road trip with open arms. Reminded me of us in '99 when our team was blowing a playoff spot yet everybody was ridiculously enthusiastic. Plus they've gone without for so long. As a baseball fan, I've seen enough of the Cardinals and my dislike for the Cubs transcends any interest their presence will bring to America. Brewers fans deserve a taste.

Of course should we play any of them or anybody from any division or league, eff the whole lot of them. Let's Go Mets!

I'd like to see the Brewers win because they haven't won anything in a long time.

I'd like to see the Cubs win because I feel bad for the Cubs because they have had such a loyal fan base for so long and haven't won anything.

I'd like to see the Cards win so that we can avenge the loss of last year.

I'll take any of them, though it ticks me off that, as I understand the playoff rules, we are likely to have the face the Wild Card which will be better than and have better pitching than any of these three teams.

As more than one Cubs manager has said in his own way, the loyalty of Cubs fans only fits certain definitions of the word.

I voted for the Brewers because Tony LaRussa's act has grown old and Lou Pinella's was old even when it was brand new. Ned Yost has managed the Brews for five years and I barely know anything about him ---except that up until a few years ago I had assumed he was Ed Yost's son and was surprised to hear he wasn't --- and that's probably a good thing. So, until they cross a Met's path, I'm rooting for Ned Yost's team.

Ned Yost fact I just learned of the day: He wears #3 in tribute to his late friend, Dale Earnhardt.

Cubs are in good shape, facing losing teams the rest of the way. The Brews have a lot of hte same matchups, but also have Atlanta and San Diego left on their schedule.

Check the four games in three days the Cubs have against St. Louis this weekend. That could be a big hump if they can get over it.

I've lived in Chicago and St. Louis, and I vote Chicago.

Cubs fans are fun. There are plenty of former New Yorkers in Chicago, so they've learned to live with us, and the ragging is usually friendly. Chicagoans were sympathetic during the 2000 WS and even during the 1999 NLCS (Cub fans still haven't forgiven the Braves for stealing Greg Maddux). Besides, Cliffy appears to be having a nice Shawn Green-type spot starter/lefty bat off the bench season with the Cubs. And Wrigley Field really is a great place to watch a ballgame.

On the other hand, St. Louisans really don't like New York. I mean, they hate your guts for no reason other than that your zip code begins with "10" or �11�. And I'm still annoyed at the guy who yelled "F the Mets" in the middle of the national anthem when I was at Busch in 1987. F you, too, buddy, and F your sub-.500 playing, HGH-taking excuse for a baseball team. May you remain in third place for ever and ever.

Milwaukee? Nice guys, I guess. I went to County Stadium once. They had sausage races and they raffled off a Robin Yount uniform for charity. Or maybe it was a Paul Molitor uniform. Something like that. Even today, whenever I notice the Mets are playing Milwaukee, the first thought that comes to mind is "How come we're the only teams playing interleague today?" It's OK if they win the division. It's OK if they lose. They're just the Brewers.

Go, Cubs. Just not too far.

I found out tonight that I get tickets to a Brewers/Mets playoff game in Milwaukee during the first round if the matchup is right.

Doubtful that the matchup will happen, but I'm hoping some way somehow.
