Did Derek Jeter Give Jessica Alba Herpes?

Larry BrownPosted Aug 9th 2007 2:18PM by Larry Brown
Filed under: New York, Yankees, AL East, MLB Gossip

I was listening to The Adam Carolla Show this morning and they had a guest on from a gossip website called L.A. Rag Mag. Far be it from me to judge the credibility of the site; all I know is that Carolla had them on, so they must be somewhat legit (or entertaining at the least). Well, their latest report certainly has a strong charge -- that Derek Jeter gave Jessica Alba herpes:

Jessica Alba (before she was Jessica Alba) used to date Derek Jeter, the serial celebrity dater, who plays for the NY Yankees. Well, our source worked for Cash Warren, her ex, and had to refill her Valtrex prescription for her on a regular basis! Guess who she got it from...that's right...dirty Derek Jeter.

You know what this means don't YOU?!! All of his other famous relationships could have contracted the STD TOO! Derek's most famous sexual conquest include Mariah Carey, Jessica Alba, Vanessa Minnillo and most recently Jessica Biel. Which means JT could have it AAAHHH!!

Perhaps this is the wrong attitude, but I've always been of the accepting mindset for STDs -- at least it means you're getting some, right? And by the way, if this is at all true, anything you can get from having relationships with Mariah Carey, Jessica Biel, and Jessica Alba, I'm all for. Sign me up.

That's some wierd shit to be posting.

Hasn't Jessica Alba been "Jessica Alba" since she was 17?

That's some real scandalous behavior then.

So THAT'S where I got that from! And all this time, I thought it was from Scarlett . . .

GET A JOBA: John (Pa Pinstripe) Sterling must have stayed up at least three consecutive nights creating his Joba Chamberlain call. When the rookie sensation finishes an inning, Sterling bellows: "Great Joba by Joba."

Posted

Francesa was just talking to a caller about Joba not coming in last night and kept calling it the "Joba rule" that the organization told Torre he's not allowed in 2 straight games no matter what

He was prolly making a mountain of a molehill, but the article referred to above by Raissman concerns how far the YES network would allow Al Leiter go in criticizing (or really, just questioning) how rigid the Joba Rules are, and whether they are really there to protect Joba from Torre and not from injury.

The rules say, 1 inning, 1 day off; 2 innings, 2 days off. The MFYs lost last night with Sean Henn throwing because the Joba Rules prevented his being used.

if the yankee organization feels that they have to make rules to protect players from Torre that would tell me that its time to show Torre the door.

The 'Joba Rules' are also partially a Cashman-inserted set of rules to protect himself. The guy had some injury problems his final year in college and didn't really pitch again until the Hawaiin Winter League. Since then he's gone from A-ball to the majors in 4 months and, while they certainly want to win this season, they also are depending on this guy as part of their rotation for next year.
It'll be interesting to see when/if they deviate from their self-imposed standards. During the two remaining Yanx/Sawx series? In September??

What I'm getting a kick out of in this whole affair is Yanqui fans who are ready to annoint him the savior even to the point of throwing Mariano overboard. Torre is actually getting criticism for bringing Rivera into save situations if Chamberlain is available.

All that said, it would be remiss of us not to mention how nice it's been to wake up the last two mornings and see the late results from the west coast. An extra-inning loss on Mon-night/Tues-morn followed by a Garret Anderson-led (TEN RBIs !!) drubbing on this morning's highlights.

What's interesting is that this set of rules is totally valid but you'd think should be kept discrete. The notion that everyone from Eric Wedge to Benny from Yonkers knows that Torre has his hands tied in this one small regard is unfair to Torre and strategically disadvantageous.

Posted

Yeah, Cashman was on the radio the other day taking great pains to NOT spell out exactly what the specific rules are, just to say that the org did lay them out and that they're to be strictly adhered to.
But I heard the same details as Dickshot's post above so there is at least a public perception of what they are.

'Yeah, I end sentences with a prepositions ... ya got a problem with that?' society)

I haven't read one sentence in this issue of BA, but Jorge Posada is on
the front cover as some kind of switch-hitting, numbers-producing, nightmare-
inducing, double-trouble phenomenon.

Jorge is nice player, I don't get him being on the cover of BA though.

The Yanks were hot a couple of weeks ago?

Posada will be the top catcher in a free-agent market with the Mets shopping for catchers.

Posada is right up there with other yankees that I despise ,I'll also second what Seawolf said.

Posted

I can't stand Posada and I'm not sure why. Maybe it was the dopey Yankee fans (redundant) who said he was better than Piazza. Maybe it's just because he's a MFY. I have trouble putting my finger on it but the guy makes me sick.

I'd be surprised if Posada winds up anywhere but the Bronx next year, but the negotiations for him are going to be interesting this winter.

He's going to be a FA for essentially the first time, he still consistantly catches between 135-145 games/year (3rd most catcher ABs this year), and is coming off what is probably the best season of his career.
On the other hand he turned 36 last week meaning that a deal of even 3 years would be difficult for a team to commit to for a backstop who'll turn 37, 38 & 39 during the contract -- although he can DH or play some 1B on occasion.

Please don't think I'm advocating.

The Yankees will likely re-sign him, and I hope he gets everything he can out of them.

They'll go stooopit buxx, 1-year with him, I'm sure.

Posted

If I'm Posada those buxx would have to be crazy-stupid for me to only accept a one-year deal. I'd want at least 2 + an option and I bet he can get it.

Both he and Rivera are in the position to hold up the Yanx for piles of cash or threaten to leave them with huge tough-to-replace holes in their rosters.

Posted

You know, Posada only started bothering me a few years ago when my crazy alcoholic uncle was trying to tell me about "that great Italian catcher the Mets have... Posada."

Either way, I don't want him. There'll be guys out there if they don't re-sign LoDuca.

Yeah, some team in the west will offer him two plus a vesting option.
