stevejrogers Old-Timey Member Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 Last season it seemed KTEs saw some slacking off, especially at the end of the season, so how should this fine CPF tradition be continued this coming season?
stevejrogers Old-Timey Member Posted February 17, 2007 Author Posted February 17, 2007 BTW, when I mean one poster, I do mean a thread starter. Clearly no one should be obligated to add on if they don't have anything or are not available to post for a return series a week later or the second time around for Central and West Division teams
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 Steve, why don't you just do every KTE....
stevejrogers Old-Timey Member Posted February 17, 2007 Author Posted February 17, 2007 Because, I don't have that much free time or procrastination time to do so =;P
Guest KC Guests Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 My poll startin' finger is getting itchy ...
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 I'm all for new ideas and new fun in 2007. Some things in this forum have been getting kind of stale.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted February 18, 2007 Posted February 18, 2007 I love the KTEs. I think when people put effort into them, format them in a readable manner, and don't copy and paste rosters off MLB.com they're useful.I also don't think the "assignment" thing works because 1. It (can) feel(s) like an imposition for people and 2. They forget. Shit happens. Etc.That being said, I'd like to continue them. The one-poster-per-team looks like a good idea. Maybe combine the interleague teams for one person.Another option: start by assigning half the season. Assign the other half later.

Guest patona314 Guests Posted February 18, 2007 Posted February 18, 2007 "free time" is the key word, I'll do the Nationals
Guest KC Guests Posted February 18, 2007 Posted February 18, 2007 I enjoy when someone puts up a good KTE. For my two cents, maybe in-stead of a season-long assignment list, Edgy starts a thread and peoplevolunteer as series approach to do an upcoming opponent. We can also use that thread to prod and moan people into "volunteering" if need be.I haven't KTE'd too much because some of them are so well done that I feelKTE'd challenged. I'm a gonna show youse in 2007 ....
Guest Yancy Street Gang Guests Posted February 18, 2007 Posted February 18, 2007 Here's how I think it should be done:Wait until after the season ends.Stay up until 2 a.m. writing a complete history of the opponent, dating back to its earliest beginnings.Sit back and wait for the applause. If it doesn't come, freak out!

DocTee Old-Timey Member Posted February 18, 2007 Posted February 18, 2007 I like Gweck's idea of assigning hte season by halves (or thirds, or quarters). Getting assigned an August series in March is just too unpredictable-- peeps forget, leave the pool, go on vacation, et cetera. For example, I was in the middle of Wisconsin for my KTE, had trouble finding an internte connection and then had to rely on Edgy to post it for me after I sent it to him via e-mail. Time consuming, frustrating, not fair to him, and more trouble than it was worth. But I do appreciate the effort that most posters put into the KTE, and I enjoy reading these.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted February 18, 2007 Posted February 18, 2007 I like the idea of one poster "owning" one team for the whole season. And if they don't have new news , or time, for an update, they don't have to do one.I'd also give folks a chance to pick the team they cover. (and I have absolutely no idea how to break ties if many folks wanted to cover the same team)Later
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted February 18, 2007 Posted February 18, 2007 I think people should volunteer, rather than being drafted. I generally do a Braves series or two and will likely try to do the same again this season as my schedule allows.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted February 18, 2007 Posted February 18, 2007 So volunteer then. Here's the schedule (which I dislike by the way --- five interleague series, all against playoff teams, from three different divisions, and two trips to Los Angeles to play the Dodgers).DatesEnemyKnowledge ProviderApril 1-4@ St. LouisApril 6-8@ AtlantaApril 9-12vs. PhiladelphiaApril 13-15vs. WashingtonEdgy DCApril 16-17@ PhiladelphiaApril 18-19@ FloridaApril 20-22vs. AtlantaApril 23-25vs. ColoradoApril 27-29@ WashingtonApril 30-May 2vs. FloridaMay 3-6@ ArizonaMay 7-9@ San FranciscoMay 11-13vs. MilwaukeeMay 14-17vs. Chicago (N)May 18-20vs. New York (A)May 22-24@ AtlantaMay 25-27@ FloridaMay 29-31vs. San FranciscoJune 1-3vs. ArizonaJune 5-7vs. PhiladelphiaJune 8-10@ DetroitJune 11-13@ Los AngelesJune 15-17@ New York (A)June 18-20vs. MinnesotaJune 22-24vs. OaklandJune 25-28vs. St. LouisJune 29-July 1@ PhiladelphiaJuly 2-4@ ColoradoJuly 5-8@ HoustonJuly 10All Star Game (SF)July 12-15vs. CincinnatiJuly 16-18@ San DiegoJuly 19-22@ Los AngelesJuly 24-26vs. PittsburghJuly 27-29vs. WashingtonJuly 31-August 2@ MilwaukeeAugust 3-5@ Chicago (N)August 7-9vs. AtlantaAugust 10-12vs. FloridaAugust 14-16@ PittsburghAugust 17-19@ WashingtonAugust 21-23vs. San DiegoAugust 24-26vs. Los AngelesAugust 27-30@ PhiladelphiaAugust 31-September 2@ AtlantaSeptember 3-5@ CincinnatiSeptember 7-9vs. HoustonSeptember 10-12vs. AtlantaSeptember 14-16@ WashingtonSeptember 20-23@ FloridaSeptember 24-26vs. WashingtonSeptember 28-30vs. Florida
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted February 19, 2007 Posted February 19, 2007 I'll take the Marlins for the season.
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted February 19, 2007 Posted February 19, 2007 I'll take the two Atlanta series in April (6-8 & 20-22) for right now. I'll likely do others later in the season unless others desire them.
stevejrogers Old-Timey Member Posted February 19, 2007 Author Posted February 19, 2007 I'll take the AL for the All Star Game, and I volunter to take the Giants.Heh, this is like the NFL schedule where the division winners get the other division winners!

A Boy Named Seo Old-Timey Member Posted February 19, 2007 Posted February 19, 2007 I'll take the two series in LA.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted February 19, 2007 Posted February 19, 2007 I'll volunteer for the Phillies this season.

Guest KC Guests Posted February 19, 2007 Posted February 19, 2007 I'll take the Cubbies ... and a one, and a two ... take me out to the ballgame.
