Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 ="Zvon"]Update:Dont bother registering-all pics in this section contain the watermark even when logged in.Thats F'd up.Join Corbis- they remove the watermark upon registration.on a further side note:While I was at the Gettyimage site, I figured id purchase one just for the hell of it.To see the possible price range.I picked the most worthless image I could find, a picture of Perez dancing over the baseline on his way off the mound. Figuring the image had no baring on the game, I figured it would be on the cheaper end of the spectrum, if they defferentiate. So, for:Subject: Perez off the moundImage size: MediumUsage: Web pageTime: for a 6 month period starting with purchase.135$ONE HUNDRED AND THIRTY FIVE BUCKS!What a joke.

Guest Yancy Street Gang Guests Posted November 2, 2006 Posted November 2, 2006 Those are nice, and thank you, but given that $135 usage fee, I may have to steer clear of Getty images.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted November 3, 2006 Posted November 3, 2006 That's a fun toy.Cliff Floyd, despite the time he's missed, is on a three-year streak as the Mets most plunked batsman.

Guest Yancy Street Gang Guests Posted November 4, 2006 Posted November 4, 2006 It looks like he fell short of the 500 plate appearances he'd need to qualify.161 games times 3.1 is 499.1. Ashburn had only 473 plate appearances.
Guest Johnny Dickshot Guests Posted November 4, 2006 Posted November 4, 2006 Yeah, just noticed that.

Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 Here's one. If I dial up Bobby Valentine (or Willie Randolph or Dallas Green or Mike Cubbage, etc.) I get the dates that they were acquired or divested as players by the Mets, but I don't get the dates they were hired or fired as managers. Is that do-able?
Guest Yancy Street Gang Guests Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 I think so. It would require a little coding, and I'd have to track down the dates for each manager, but it's something I can add to my mental to-do list.

Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted November 14, 2006 Posted November 14, 2006 Umm, that Jay Bell picture (above) looks a lot like Tom Glavine.Especially considering that Bell didn't bat left.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted November 20, 2006 Posted November 20, 2006 Henry Owens has a blue-hat photo on his 2006 Topps insert card:This was the only image I could find, but I'll try to track down a bigger scan.
Guest Yancy Street Gang Guests Posted December 8, 2006 Posted December 8, 2006 Somebody just wrote to me and said that this isn't Doug Saunders:http://www.leaptoad.com/mets/profile.php?PlayerCode=0491He said it's Darren Reed.I have no memory of what Doug Saunders looked like. I got the image from MetsCollector.com. Anyone have any opinion on this, one way or the other? Thanks.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted December 8, 2006 Posted December 8, 2006 can't find another image of Doug Saunders....but reed doesn't look like him.UMDB Reed pic...I think the guy is wrong.
A Boy Named Seo Old-Timey Member Posted December 8, 2006 Posted December 8, 2006 Darren's hitting lefty in that card when he's listed as a righty. Might explain the .205 BA.
soupcan Old-Timey Member Posted December 8, 2006 Posted December 8, 2006 Whichever of those guys those pictures are of, in each pic the dude has the same freaky Spock-like eyebrows.
Guest Yancy Street Gang Guests Posted December 11, 2006 Posted December 11, 2006 Today is Derek Bell's birthday. And it's also Jay Bell's birthday. So who's the leading UMDB hit-getter so far today?Gus BellMaybe people are checking to see why he wasn't also born on December 11. It would have been cool if he was.
