TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 I'll stick with mine as long as LoDuca and Wright stay with theirs.
Guest Yancy Street Gang Guests Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 Keep them until the Mets win the World Series or are eliminated.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 My beard - which I started just over two weeks ago - was undefeated until last night.I was starting to think there was a connection.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 I have a wedding today."Dude, did you forget to shave?""Nope. This is my Mets beard. Helps the team. win. Big game today.""Dude it's my wedding.""Yeah, I know. Tough conflict. Listen, we'll miss the first two innings during the ceremony. No avoiding that. But you enjoy the reception, and I'll cut out to a bar and return every now and then and give you an update. It'll be like you're there.""But, um, dude, we've put a lot of money into this. The pictures are really important.""Tell me about it. I don't know what we'll do if Trax comes up empty. Go to Oliver early, I guess. But how much can we get out of Heilman today? He went yestereday and then flew overnight. Hell, they're all tired.""What are you talking about?""The pitchers. Same as you."
stevejrogers Old-Timey Member Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 Abbott and Costello ladies and genetlemen!
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 Unfortunately, Edgy's scenario became far too real tonight.

Guest cooby Guests Posted October 15, 2006 Posted October 15, 2006 I think you guys with beards should all trim them down to soul patches (or whatever that stupid thing is), dye them bright blue, and wear them to Shea Stadium when they come back
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted October 15, 2006 Posted October 15, 2006 Nah, I think we'll let the Cardinal fans keep that one.Me no follow Spiezio trends. Or Spiezo bands.Sandfrog's website has been zeroed out.
soupcan Old-Timey Member Posted October 15, 2006 Posted October 15, 2006 Those red strips hanging from their chins make it look like they all cut themselves shaving with a paint scraper.
Guest Iubitul Guests Posted October 16, 2006 Posted October 16, 2006 I wanted to smack Spiezio just because of that stupid thing.I always had the alternate universe Spock look, now I'm just letting the rest of my jaw line fill in...
Valadius Old-Timey Member Posted October 16, 2006 Posted October 16, 2006 I've had a soul patch goatee-like thing going for nearly a year now, with a few scattered instances where I shaved it.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted October 16, 2006 Posted October 16, 2006 Not facial-hair related, but along the same lines...My surround-sound receiver broke down around the time Duaner was getting into a cab in Atlanta. I brought it in to be fixed and it took a really really long time. Ever since then, I haven't watched any games in HD. Since then, we lost Duaner, traded Nady, lost Pedro, lost El Duque and Cliff got hurt. Plus we lost Games 2 and 3 of the NLCS. On Sunday, I hooked up the replacement receiver the company provided for me when they couldn't fix my old one. Mets have not lost since. You guys can do what you want with facial hair. Now that I am back to watching games in HD, we cannot lose.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted October 16, 2006 Posted October 16, 2006 Ive had this same facial configuration goin since late last century.Easily thru the '99,'00 post games.Lil shabbier and longer now......I refuse to trim til we are World Champs.
Guest cooby Guests Posted October 16, 2006 Posted October 16, 2006 And I like your glasses, I had a pair just like that a couple years back and they were my favorite ones ever.
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 ...until you got your Red Ryder bb-gun and almost shot your eye out.
Guest cooby Guests Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 No, actually my daughter stepped on them

Guest Johnny Dickshot Guests Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 <<<< I could use a bearded Wally Backman here.
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 You have the power, JD. Ask for 4 runs in the top of the 6th inning.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 I've been shaving my cheeks and neck, and I'm getting a Ghost and Mrs. Muir thing going. The other thing is that the full-beard context makes it less imperative that I trim the soul patch. I checked this morning and it's cray-zee.
Valadius Old-Timey Member Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 I need my beard's power too.
Guest Johnny Dickshot Guests Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 My beard (it will be gone in 10 minutes) was too powerful and wasted all its magic on the Dodgers and Yankees series. When the FAA came to interview it regarding a small plane crash I probably shoulda known it had gone evil.
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 Beard? I need another damn beer!
