metsmarathon Old-Timey Member Posted February 27 Posted February 27 Would it be so hard to become the Crane Pool Mets Forum?
A Boy Named Seo Old-Timey Member Posted February 27 Posted February 27 The Crane Pool Mets Forum-enter at your own risk-no pissing
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted February 27 Posted February 27 Every time I come back to this thread I get an image of Tevye leaving his beloved village of Anatevka. ( cue the music)Later
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted February 27 Posted February 27 The Crane Pool Mets Forum-enter at your own risk-no pissing The title probably wouldn't have the name "Forum" in it, but you have the right idea. Come on guys. The Crane Pool was a stupid name too. These kind of puns stop being funny after the first 3 times you say it. The irony is that the title was meant to be deliberately obscure/ambiguous. Before there was a science to search engine optimization, we were practicing search engine evasion.

Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted February 27 Posted February 27 (edited) I honestly could never understand the name of this forum. I thought folks were just being quirky with an alternate spelling. I still think this website can be saved organically, but I think the underlying issue is that the passion for running this forum is what been lost most of all, not membership or participation. As a psychologist might say, the thing is never actually the thing (aka there's always an underlying cause below that), so attrition and fading participation are the outwardly spoken totems representing the core issue. But man, it sure would be great if we could avoid selling out to some guy who just showed up one day. It's a trust issue. Who the heck even is this Brock? Ya know? We quarrel here but we know each other and get along for the most part, lumps and all, because rapports have been developed. But then there's ol' Brock...... Edited February 27 by Cowtipper
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted February 27 Posted February 27 Well, I've tried to give folks a bunch of links through which they can check Brock out.
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted February 27 Posted February 27 That's like looking at someone's resume and assuming you can judge them based on that. But you never know a co-worker until you actually work with them. Nomsayin?I have suggested alternatives. Has anyone already here volunteered to assume the mantle of running this place? And if burnout is the issue, maybe just temporarily transfer ownership to a trusted member until the passion comes back? Sometimes all it takes is a vacation. But now if we go through this again, we'll just be talking in circles at this point.
Bob Alpacadaca Verified Member Posted February 27 Posted February 27 You are absolutely talking circles. I'm all in on making the move if the mods are ready to turn over those reigns. Since this forum can be mothballed and come out of mothballs if people don't like the other place, there's really no risk. And, really, we need to stop taking swipes at Brock. All he did was express interest and make an offer. Edgy and Ben, make the call and I'll support whichever way you decide.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted February 27 Posted February 27 Has anyone already here volunteered to assume the mantle of running this place? Nope.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted February 28 Posted February 28 Well, I would think the forum name would be the overall site name. If it's, say, 'Mets Journal' then the forum would be 'Mets Journal Forum'. That seems pretty clear to me. You wouldn't name it the Crane Pool Forum any more than you would name it the Spanky and Our Gang Forum. It's all part of being a piece of the bigger entity.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted February 28 Posted February 28 I think as long as the new place provides a pool for the cranes to splash around in then everything should be OK.After all, a crane's gotta crane.

Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted March 2 Posted March 2 This thread alone brought back a lot of our dormant members I think. Maybe Brock is the true MVP after all.
