Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted Sunday at 12:45 AM Author Posted Sunday at 12:45 AM Just settling in for an old fashioned pitcher's duel, eh? (4 - 2 TBR, end of 1)
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted Sunday at 01:46 AM Posted Sunday at 01:46 AM Two best teams in baseball. Catching the ball is hard.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted Sunday at 02:15 AM Posted Sunday at 02:15 AM What a terrible send by the 3B coach. Tim Lieper breathes a little easier.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted Sunday at 03:01 AM Posted Sunday at 03:01 AM Wow. Milwaukee is relentless. Kinda feels like this is their year.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted Sunday at 03:56 AM Posted Sunday at 03:56 AM I dunno. That did not seem like a swing.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted Sunday at 10:53 AM Author Posted Sunday at 10:53 AM No, looked like a bad call to me. But I'm still leery about video replay for swings. Unlike ABS there's not a clear Yes/No line to be drawn. Tamps simply forgot to score after the 1st inning.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted Sunday at 08:52 PM Posted Sunday at 08:52 PM This world series is starting to feel obscure
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted Sunday at 10:05 PM Posted Sunday at 10:05 PM If Milwaukee sweeps or wins in 5 it may become one of those forgettable series. Tampa just needs to win Monday. You wonder if Milwaukee relying heavily on the strong end of their bullpen will end up hurting them if the series makes it back to Milwaukee.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted Monday at 12:15 AM Author Posted Monday at 12:15 AM So far there have been two one-run games which could have gone either way on any one of a dozen or more plays within each game. Even the game ending plays in each were controversial: one, a game-ending call overturned (wrongly IMO) allowing the game to continue with tying and go-ahead runners on; the other a call which probably shouldn't have been made which ended a game with tying and go-ahead runners on. Crisply played? No, not always. But not boring, and I don't even know how to address 'obscure'.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted Monday at 02:25 PM Posted Monday at 02:25 PM The games have been close but not impressed with the crispness of the play. Outs on the bases, errors and misplays. I dunno. I want teams to stand taller in the World Serious
whippoorwill Old-Timey Member Posted Monday at 03:46 PM Posted Monday at 03:46 PM Getting tired maybe
smg58 Old-Timey Member Posted Monday at 07:18 PM Posted Monday at 07:18 PM So Peralta is coming in to tonight's game with a 1.08 ERA and a 5.73 xFIP for the postseason. His 3.4% HR/flyball rate, and even more so his 96.8% strand rate, are ludicrously unsustainable. But if he sustains it for one more game, he gets called clutch and somebody gives him five years and $200M. MFS62 1
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted Monday at 08:31 PM Posted Monday at 08:31 PM Hey, if you told me in March that Freddy would be starting Game 3 of the World Series, well, I'd be all over that. smg58 1

Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted yesterday at 01:42 AM Posted yesterday at 01:42 AM Congratulations Brewers. The crown seems inevitable now. But not before the obligatory references to the 2004 ALCS. Did you know the Yankees are the only team to blow a 3-0 lead in a playoff series? Like seriously. I knew then that this was forever. But I didn’t realize how much how much I’d still enjoy it this many years later. seawolf17 and MFS62 2
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted yesterday at 01:45 AM Author Posted yesterday at 01:45 AM I've figured out the Brewers strategy: wait until you get two outs and then get eleven-teen hits in a row. whippoorwill 1
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted yesterday at 01:54 AM Author Posted yesterday at 01:54 AM Top 5th: LO-5; Single; FO-7; SB; BB; IF-Single (overturn of what would have been the end of a scoreless inning) -- pitching change -- 2 RBI Single (off SS glove); 2-RBI Single; 2-RBI Double; RBI Double -- pitching change -- RBI Single; 2-RBI Double; FO-7 Jake Bauer made the 1st & 3rd outs in the inning, both on FO to LF. I'm surprised the Brewers didn't release him between innings.
The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted yesterday at 01:57 AM Posted yesterday at 01:57 AM Brewers putting a serious beat down on the Ray's. The bullpen arms they rode hard to this point should have an additional night off after a travel day.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted yesterday at 09:26 AM Author Posted yesterday at 09:26 AM Nice of the Rays to finally get on the board with two outs in the 9th. Prior to that, Milwaukee pitching had faced the minimum numbers of batters thru 8. So 24 PAs for the Rays thru 8; the Brewers sent half that many to the plate just in the 4th inning alone. including nine after two were already out. That's about as one-sided as one night can get.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted yesterday at 02:47 PM Posted yesterday at 02:47 PM Hits (many to the opposite field) with runners on base. What a novel idea. Later
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted yesterday at 06:48 PM Posted yesterday at 06:48 PM You could put this Brewers team in conversations about the best teams of all time ilk And yet I believe this World Series is barely watched or "under watched" anyway. It's a 3-0 lead after an 11-1 thrashing of the Rays. Game 3 sent alot of Game 4 potential watchers to the showers, or the Knicks game. Maybe Tampa Bay can win a couple
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted yesterday at 07:34 PM Posted yesterday at 07:34 PM I would love to at least see Tampa send this back to Milwaukee. Make it interesting. The more baseball, the better!
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted 22 hours ago Posted 22 hours ago It occurs to me I’m good with whatever happens. If Tampa wins great, I’m rooting for them. If Milwaukee wins, then whatever. It’s the offseason and we move forward with improving this team. MFS62 1
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted 22 hours ago Posted 22 hours ago This was already the best possible World Series matchup, and the easily the best matchup since 2016. I too would prefer a 7 game epic series but I’ll take a Brewers sweep every single time over watching one of the objectionable teams (ATL, PHI, LAD, NYY, WAS). Centerfield and MFS62 2

No it was not the best to me I didn't realize I was a big market Ho Washington Nationals?
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted 21 hours ago Posted 21 hours ago Shameful showing by the Rays fans. How do you let your stadium get taken over by fans traveling in from Milwaukee? This isn’t like a Philly-NY thing.
