I don't have much of a say. I'm kind of just waiting my turn. He doesn't obviously have confidence in me. He's got confidence in other people. So it's just one of those things.”[/bLOCKQUOTE]—-Let's see here:-Winker has the highest playoff OPS on the team-You have all the versatility of a boulder, being completely unable to play in the field-You haven't hit since AugustMaybe not the best comments to make here. Stick to “I'm ready to help the team in any way I can, whenever and wherever Carlos needs me.”
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted October 16, 2024 Posted October 16, 2024 I don't really think Martinez has ever embraced being here , maybe it's his decline ,whatever
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted October 16, 2024 Posted October 16, 2024 He did give them a spark when he first arrived, but by now it's pretty clear that he's a one-season Met. Hopefully he'll get a World Series ring in the mail next spring when he's with the Rockies or White Sox.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted October 16, 2024 Posted October 16, 2024 JD wants to play but doesn't care who wins.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted October 16, 2024 Posted October 16, 2024 Nearly every inning of games 1-2 thrown by the Dodgers were thrown by righties. So of course he sat. Which makes the question nearly as stupid as the answer.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted October 16, 2024 Posted October 16, 2024 He was pretty ice-cold for the last two months. Maybe Carlos knows what he's doing.

G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted October 16, 2024 Posted October 16, 2024 J.D.will have opportunity to put up rather than shut up.
metsmarathon Old-Timey Member Posted October 16, 2024 Posted October 16, 2024 honestly, i don't see the outrage. it does sound like he's saying, without saying, i've sucked, and carlos believes other players can do the job better.

Stick to “I'm ready to help the team in any way I can, whenever and wherever Carlos needs me.”eh, it's fine?but who cares about playoff OPS. meaningless. One double from J.D. and that probably flips. Martinez is 4/14 with 3 BB. Winker is 4/15 with 4 BB. 2 of those hits were a triple and a homer. He was also hit twice. No one's asking him to be versatile? He's the DH. Winker didn't hit in September either.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted October 16, 2024 Posted October 16, 2024 It should be fine. But if these comments circulate, and get inflated on talk radio and social media, and then he strikes out tonight against a slider with runners on once or twice, and Mets fans start booing, it could turn into a thing.
rchurch314 Old-Timey Member Posted October 16, 2024 Posted October 16, 2024 what if it's a sweeper not a slider?
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 16, 2024 Posted October 16, 2024 NYM fans are already booing (right here in this forum) and he hasn't even had an opportunity to K yet
