Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted September 19, 2024 Posted September 19, 2024 Who do you put on the Mets postseason roster? We can safely assume that the first 20 spots are total locks:Catchers (2): Alvarez, TorrensInfielders (4): Alonso, Iglesias, Lindor, VientosOutfielders (5): Bader, Marte, Nimmo, Taylor, WinkerDesignated Hitter (1): MartinezStarting Pitchers (3): Manaea, Peterson, SeverinoRelief Pitchers (5): Butto, Diaz, Garrett, Maton, D. YoungThis leaves you 6 additional choices. Specify below: do you want a big bench? A deep bullpen? Starters-turned-relievers?
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted September 21, 2024 Posted September 21, 2024 A lot depends on what Senga can do.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 21, 2024 Posted September 21, 2024 I just wish I could check José Azocar more than once.
metsmarathon Old-Timey Member Posted September 21, 2024 Posted September 21, 2024 Acuna. Alvarez. What do our bullpen options look like? Temped to go fill the pen with the rest of our rotation. And maybe drop jd.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted September 21, 2024 Posted September 21, 2024 Senga started for Syracuse tonight and pitched a scoreless inning, walking one and striking out two.Later

Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted September 22, 2024 Author Posted September 22, 2024 That pretty much clinches Quintana's spot (at least in later rounds; might go with an extra reliever in the wild card rounds).
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted September 22, 2024 Posted September 22, 2024 (edited) May depend on Lindor also, that's why I added Baty if he is available Edited September 22, 2024 by Guest
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted September 22, 2024 Posted September 22, 2024 Yeah, such a weird year for Kodai with niggling injuries
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted September 22, 2024 Author Posted September 22, 2024 Baty's played in Syracuse a couple games over the last week. He can be brought back (and might be soon, given that Eddy Alvarez is ineligible for the postseason).
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted September 22, 2024 Posted September 22, 2024 Eddy Alvarez should be ineligible to play in MLB period

Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted September 23, 2024 Posted September 23, 2024 So we sat alongside the bullpen last week and saw a bunch of forgotten guys just hanging out there including Sean Reid-Foley and Drew Smith.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted September 30, 2024 Author Posted September 30, 2024 Baty was with the team in Atlanta and I wouldn't be shocked to see him on the roster.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2024 Posted October 1, 2024 Well, Quintana probably pitches the third game in Milwaukee if needed. So he's definitely on.Megill pitched yesterday so he couldn't be used, therefore off the roster. There has to be somebody better than Brazoban on the 40-man.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2024 Posted October 1, 2024 Do we know when the roster will be officially announced? If I recall correctly from previous postseasons, it may be as late as about an hour before game time.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2024 Author Posted October 1, 2024 I understood it was a 10 AM (local time where game is being played) deadline to submit it. The Royals already announced their roster publicly.

Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2024 Author Posted October 1, 2024 Max Kranick made the roster. Megill was left off.No other surprises.

G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2024 Posted October 1, 2024 Max Kranick trying to pull off what Matt Reynolds couldn't — make his Mets debut in the postseason. Reynolds was added in 2015 after Tejada was brutally assaulted in the LDS, yet didn't play. He was removed for the World Series once Uribe was deemed fit.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2024 Posted October 1, 2024 Can you option Kranick after game 1?
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2024 Posted October 1, 2024 Longtime Mets fan according to DiComo ,used to go to Big Shea from his eastern PA home as a child ,presumably with his family

Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2024 Posted October 1, 2024 Nobody had Max Kranick on their bingo card!
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2024 Posted October 1, 2024 I'm sure Max is a nice guy, well mannered and kind to his parents. But, as the "long man", I hope we don't have to see him in this series.Later
