batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted September 17, 2024 Posted September 17, 2024 BTW, speaking of IGT winning streaks, if we were to have a contest to see who would have the best IGT winning percentage, the best strategy to employ would be to hog them up. Being an IGT hog would give you the best chance of scoring the highest winning percentage. That's because given our unwritten IGT rules, claiming a win ensures that you'll then get every consecutive win that follows. But if the Mets were to, say, have a 10 game losing streak, no one would ever get stuck with all 10 of those losses because the rules prohibit you from claiming a game after a loss.

To be honest, I'm still not completely sure. I think a much bigger deal is that we leased an office in Stockholm without forum quorum.

It didn't get a response. We'd still have to use the rule that you can't IGT after your loss. Whaddaya' think?Later
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted September 17, 2024 Posted September 17, 2024 Maybe we need to change the rule so that you can't start an IGT unless three games have been played since your last IGT.And if your IGT results in a win, you get a cookie. Or an extra half hour before bedtime.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 17, 2024 Posted September 17, 2024 Or maybe we could just be adults about the whole topic.

Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted September 17, 2024 Posted September 17, 2024 I'm in favor of less rules but this would be a good rule of thumb. That's if we have enough people to start these things much less participate in them. Game threads are basically garbage anyway
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted September 17, 2024 Posted September 17, 2024 (edited) The people that scream the most about igts are the least likely to start oneIt tends to be the same 4 or 5 people in most cases that doA three day wait is fine, until two games don't have a thread Edited September 17, 2024 by Guest

Reading through them can sometimes be less than helpful though honestly they also read like a bunch of people watching a game together and making comments, sure. Just my two cents since we're all grouchy anyway
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 17, 2024 Posted September 17, 2024 Zimmo = Brandon NimmoBlerp sounds like the kind of sound I type when the game has ended in a Mets loss.Somebody get Cooby set up to stream.

DocTee Old-Timey Member Posted September 17, 2024 Posted September 17, 2024 [bLOCKQUOTE]Game threads are basically garbage anyway[/bLOCKQUOTE]I lived in California from 1998-2014 and absolutely relied on the IGT to keep me apprised of what was happening (I was unable, or too cheap, to access the games from there). Following the games here when I can watch on TV is not as beneficial but I like to read a quick recap when I miss the games for one reason or another.

But purple print is always good.Later
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 17, 2024 Posted September 17, 2024 I believe in the IGT, and I'm sorry it gets less use. I assume folks have family members to watch with or they're posting at Twitter or the like, but the attrition in IGT participation leaves me feeling old.IGT's also are better when folks provide not the play-by-play, but the analysis. Few of us need to read a comment that Shlabotnik is up with two on and one out. Anybody following the game can see this. But the color comments while that is going on can really enliven things."Somebody tell Shlabotnik to tuck in his shirt. He looks drunk.""Who did we trade to get Shlabotnik?""I think it was Elly de la Cruz.""Really?! Fuck me!""Nah, I'm just kidding. He was signed as a minor league free agent.""Really?! Then fuck you!""Shlabotnik hasn't seen a strike the whole game.""Then how has he struck out twice?""Exactly.""Did Keith just call Shabotnik a 'Fat Albanian'?""I'm pretty sure I heard that too!""Everything about this game sucks. Everybody IN this game sucks. Fire everybody. I mean literally. Set them on fire.""Hey! What's up, Centerfield?""Two terrible relievers in the bullpen. THAT'S what's up."[bIGPURPLE]"HOLYFUCKINGSHITHOMERUNBYSHLABOTNIK!!!!!!!"[/bIGPURPLE]

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 17, 2024 Posted September 17, 2024 Guys named Joey Gallo tend to get blown away a lot, don't they?Either at the plate or with a plate of clams in front of them.
