Considering it's the anniversary of January 6, there's little reason to not think that a large army folks won't allow themselves to support the grossest of villains if he offers them victory.

A team like WSH should consider this. Their ignorant fan base won't notice and they can trade him in July if he is doing well. To who? A contender that could have just signed him themselves a few months earlier? Does 3 months pitching for a shit team somehow make him less toxic? If a year away in Japan didn't do that for a given franchise I don't see how mid-season they would suddenly be open to him.

This is just theoretical but if he's played in the "bigs" for 3 months and excelled (and behaved) maybe that provides cover to a team that is desperate to make the playoffs.
