https://www.foxnews.com/sports/trevor-bauer-more-than-open-signing-mets-2021-offseason-fiascoTrevor Bauer 'more than open' to signing with Mets after 2021 offseason fiasco

TREVOR BAUER SAYS HE'S GROWN FROM 'MISTAKES' IN THE PAST, HOPES FOR 'SECOND OPPORTUNITY' IN MLB

If "Uncle Stevie" came calling this time around, Bauer says he'd be "happy" to play in Queens.

"The Mets have a great thing going on," Bauer said. "Obviously, those players I've played with – I really respect [former Cleveland teammate] Francisco Lindor as a leader, as a player, he's one of the best out there."

"Playing in New York would be awesome. The fan bases here are crazy. I'd be more than open to it."

I really don't see this happening, but who knows? I wasn't aware that Bauer was among the crop of current free agents.

He played in Japan last year

Nothing has really changed about his personal situation. You either believe him that he is into some weird, violent, but consensual sex or you believe his accuser that he is into weird, violent, non consensual sex and assault.

I would rather the Mets just stay away from that situation.

He is toxic. Want nothing to do with him. And he might not even be all that good. His Cy Young came in the sticky hand era in the COVID year where the Reds played in one of -- if not the -- weakest division in baseball.

I hope the Mets will make clear that they have zero interest in his services. If the Mets were to sign this ass, I would have to pull against them to get hammered, humiliatingly, every time he takes the mound.

A team like WSH should consider this. Their ignorant fan base won't notice and they can trade him in July if he is doing well.

Considering it's the anniversary of January 6, there's little reason to not think that a large army folks won't allow themselves to support the grossest of villains if he offers them victory.

It's sad and gross and cynical, but cries of reason often fall on a multitude of deaf ears at such inflection points.

To who? A contender that could have just signed him themselves a few months earlier? Does 3 months pitching for a shit team somehow make him less toxic? If a year away in Japan didn't do that for a given franchise I don't see how mid-season they would suddenly be open to him.

This is just theoretical but if he's played in the "bigs" for 3 months and excelled (and behaved) maybe that provides cover to a team that is desperate to make the playoffs.

He'd fit in well in Baltimore, where he could draw only favorable comparisons to Ray Rice (who, by the way, the Ravens honored last week - talk about tone deaf.)
