Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted December 12, 2023 Posted December 12, 2023 I voted my fear instead of my hope. Bronx.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted December 12, 2023 Posted December 12, 2023 I guessed Toronto, pivoting off of their Ohtani miss.lolPhillies.
dgwphotography Old-Timey Member Posted December 12, 2023 Posted December 12, 2023 So far, I'm the only one who is optimistic that the Mets will sign him.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted December 12, 2023 Posted December 12, 2023 I voted other for the Giants
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted December 12, 2023 Posted December 12, 2023 It certainly feels kind of like the Mets' turn to make a distinctive offseason move.

A Boy Named Seo Old-Timey Member Posted December 12, 2023 Posted December 12, 2023 The Giants worry me a lot but they seem like the kind of team that would have Blake Snell instead. So I'm voting for Cohen's phat ca$h

And I don't think Steve Cohen will be outbid. My concern is that the Yankees overseas cachet will tilt the balance towards them. I find myself hoping that Yamamoto really wants to be teammates with Kodai Senga!

There's also Shota Imanaga. Imagine if the Mets signed both Yamamoto and Imanaga to join Senga in their rotation?
Marshmallowmilkshake Old-Timey Member Posted December 12, 2023 Posted December 12, 2023 I think he becomes a Met. Cohen's not going to be outbid.

I know just the guy!
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted December 12, 2023 Posted December 12, 2023 Dunno, just have the feeling he's going to wind up with the Yankees. Hope I'm wrong, and Unkle Steve's money speaks louder than 'tradition'.
batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted December 14, 2023 Posted December 14, 2023 You know, this pursuit of Yamamoto by several teams is kind of like a tournament. It's the tournament to sign Yamamoto.
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted December 14, 2023 Posted December 14, 2023 I forgot to vote yesterday, just sadly flipped the Yankee lever.Swoosh, there it is!
A Boy Named Seo Old-Timey Member Posted December 14, 2023 Posted December 14, 2023 I think if I were Yamamoto, it would've been pretty impactful if Mookie and Freddie and Shohei showed up to my pitch meeting.

The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2023 Posted December 16, 2023 I have a feeling it is Yamamoto or bust for the Mets this off-season. I'm afraid that the Dodgers or Yankees land Yamamoto and the Mets will end up landing a few mid-level free agent pitchers or reclamation projects (Giolito, Kluber, Keuchel, Paxton, etc) as they save their money for up for a big push in 2025 when (they hope) all the youngsters will be ready to shine.I'm afraid the big acquisition this off season will end up being the return of Edwin Diaz. I, which can be huge, assuming their are enough leads for him to save and turn into team victories. I sincerely hope I am wrong.
