Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 5, 2023 Posted July 5, 2023 Getting Canha up against the lefty here is the reason Buck didn't pinch-hit for him two innings ago.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 5, 2023 Posted July 5, 2023 Let's give partial credit on that walk to Canha.
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted July 5, 2023 Posted July 5, 2023 Smart move by Canha and/or the 3rd base coach there - as long as the 3rd baseman can't beat him back to the bag he might as well be a distraction over there. the balk would have been awesome. How about sending Nimmo here and seeing if they risk a throw with a runner at 3rd?
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 5, 2023 Posted July 5, 2023 This is still a terrific lineup in a tight ballpark that we need Robertson to retire.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 5, 2023 Posted July 5, 2023 Evan Longoria is a guy who gets pinch-hit for these days?
metsmarathon Old-Timey Member Posted July 5, 2023 Posted July 5, 2023 Well shit. I'm glad I stayed up for this. What a gosh-dang win!
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 5, 2023 Posted July 5, 2023 I was feeling lucky, so I headed on over to Wordle after the win and shot a birdie.Maybe I need to get me some scratch cards. Also worth noting: This wasn't just a game the Mets came out on top of. They played pretty sharp, tight baseball wire to wire, against a first-place team.

MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted July 6, 2023 Posted July 6, 2023 (edited) From SNY: Alvarez now has five game-tying or go-ahead home runs in the sixth inning or later this season, which is most in the majors. Now they're saying four.May 17: Álvarez hits a two-out, game-tying home run in the ninth inning in the Mets 8-7 (10 innings) win over the Tampa Bay RaysMay 27: Álvarez hits a three-run homer in the sixth inning against the Colorado Rockies to tie the game at 6-6. New York eventually lost to the Rockies 7-10.July 4: Álvarez hits a go-ahead home run against the Diamondbacks in the top of the seventh inning. The long ball gave the Mets a 6-4 lead, and they went on to win 8-5 over Arizona.July 5: Álvarez hits a two-out, game-tying solo home run in the bottom of the ninth against Arizona. The Mets went on to score one more run in the top of the ninth and defeated the Diamondbacks 2-1.Later Edited July 6, 2023 by Guest
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted July 6, 2023 Posted July 6, 2023 Yeah, fell asleep before all the goodness.4 in a row is nice but they really need another 10 in a row on top of it. That's the hole they dug in June.

Senga seems at his best with free swingers that will chase bordrline pitches and his forkball. This helps to keep his pitch count down. A line up of patient , disciplined hitters (like the Diamondbacks) are very likely to run his pitch count up pretty quickly. I hope I am wrong.Shows how little I know. Glad it worked out and Senga had a great outing.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted July 6, 2023 Posted July 6, 2023 Senga really seems to need that extra rest. He's not a good pitcher on regular rest, but last night he had two extra days and Bazinga!
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 6, 2023 Posted July 6, 2023 Two in a row, four in a row, 10 in a row, or 100 in a row — they all start with one in a row. That was a cool one.
