I wasn't entirely certain that Vada Pinson played for the Royals but took a chance anyways. He did. Pinson, that is. Also, my first thought for Cards 300 game winner was Bob Gibson, but I didn't put Gibby up as an answer because I assumed that he would've been the most popular answer for that box and I was going for a low rarity score. So Carlton, instead, whom I would've preferred to use for Indians 300 game winner for rarity score purposes. Turned out that Gibby was short of 300 wins, someone here posted.
batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted July 15, 2023 Posted July 15, 2023 Johnny Lunchbucket wrote:Cards Orioles is all-star Immaculate Gridder Todd ZeileFrom those baseball card threads I used to post, I've got six players that were one-time Mets and played for a lot of teams. That's part of my strategy: to work through those players when I'm stuck, though I haven't had to put up any of those four players as an answer yet using this method. The four players are Todd Zeile, as you mentioned, Latroy Hawkins, already noted in this thread, Octavio Dotel, Bartolo Colon, Bruce Chen and Jesse Orosco. Actually, I once used Orosco for an Imgrid answer, but I wasn't stuck or working through this methodology. The answer came to me immediately because one of the rows/columns was Cardinals and I remember once making a custom Orosco Cardinal baseball card for a baseball card thread because Orosco was a Card only briefly and there is no real Card card for Orosco, as far as I remember.

Chad ochoseis Old-Timey Member Posted July 16, 2023 Posted July 16, 2023 You guys who remember that Todd Zeile was an Oriole...5 today. Got the three easy 40 HR guys, Williams, Sosa, and Thomas, though I was surprised that Ted Williams, still probably the best hitter who ever lived, a righthander hitting in a ballpark made for right handers, was only chosen by 7%.Also remembered Tony Conigliaro (0.4%) as an Angel. My parents were on the, uh, economical side, so instead of Strat-O-Matic, I got this game called Sports Illustrated Baseball as a hand-me-down from my cousin Maxie. You chose teams instead of players. Each team had its own brochure with the players' stats for the year plus a little writeup on how the team did. It was actually a great game, though not quite at the level of Strat. My version was based on the 1970 season, so I'm good at 1970 stats, and Tony C was finishing up his all too short career in Anaheim in 1970.Also, that was the year Ed Kranepool was sent to Tidewater. He didn't even make the 1970 Mets SI team.Vaguely remembered that Norm Cash spent some time with the White Sox, along with 0.9% of players who got that square.OE: Conigliaro's season with the Angels was actually '71. So I have no idea why I remembered he was an Angel.
