This has the potential to be the worst baseball night of 2022. Just rooting for negative x rays tonight

Negative X-rays for Pete.

Quad tightness for Marte, further imaging needed.

We're gonna have to do this vs. the pen.

Mets have three lefties in a row coming up in the eighth, so the Pads are gonna come out with Tim Hill on the hill.

Earlier this year, the Mets notified MLB that they were concerned about the number of their players being hit. The ump should have warned Darvish after the second hit batter and tossed his ass after the third. Buck should have played the game under protest until MLB reviewed tapes of the game and shown the ump [CROSSOUT]incompetence[/CROSSOUT] non-performance.

No offense, but all that is absurd.

Two guys got nicked on the foot by breaking balls (I hope Brandon's shoelace is OK) and Pete was hit on the hand mostly because he was swinging at the pitch and rightly shouldn't have even been awarded 1st base.

There was ZERO grounds for protest, and what was he going to protest anyway, that three of his guys were awarded 1st? That's more than got on base any other way last night.

Throw Darvish out? I'd protest THAT if I were the SD manager.

I saw the film adaptation. I thought Chris Pine was a terrible choice to play Eduardo Escobar, and I don't agree with them conflating his backstory with Luis Guillorme's, but I understand that they do these things for time constraints.

That comparison is silly.

A box score contains facts. Three HPB are three HBP, and will forevermore be counted in official baseball statistics- whether they were intentional or not and whether anyone got injured or not. And my post was an honest and emotional response to it.

A movie adaptation may not.

If you are telling us that movie adaptations contain factual information, it had nothing to do with the game. My comment about the box score did.

Why are you making fun of my post? Are you still an editor and is it part of your DNA? Or haven't you had that job for years? I don't think you should use your post on any future job application as an example of your editorial prowess.

It was just some sound and fury.

And if you think you were being smart or funny, you weren't.

If you don't think your error was funny — calling for ejections and protests over events you didn't see or hear and don't represent what you describe — then you don't.

I do, and I like to think I would if it was my error.

If you think it's cool to (for what? the eighth time?) attack my career and competence out of nowhere, then you do. I'm mostly OK enough with myself to deal with that. But I don't think I should have to explain that what I wrote has nothing to do with editing. And it has nothing to do with sound or fury, any more than it has to do with volcanoes or caterpillars or debutante balls.

Please feel free to attack my post on its own terms.

I thought that what I was doing when I admitted that I reacted when I read the box score and didn't see the actual game.

I dunno. I think it was an incredibly powerful reaction for someone who never saw the game in the first place and then essentially concedes later on that not all HBP's are equal. I mean, you have to see the game to form an opinion about the pitcher's intent, no? Ejections? Protests? Are those calls even allowed to be protested?

Unless it was all tongue in cheek. I'm definitely guilty of that. Sometimes, anyways. Of course, when I go tongue in cheek and then someone misses the point and goes all literal on me, I then respond by going even tongue in cheekier. If they still don't get it by then, things sometimes tend to go downhill really quickly after that.

Being an abrasive, belligerent jackass definitely makes for internet problems, especially when trying to be funny or sarcastic. I should know.
