Marshmallowmilkshake Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2022 Posted May 19, 2022 Get away day game, with Chris Bassitt, 4-2, 2.34, facing Dakota Hudson, 3-2, 3.06.After being sick as a dog since Friday, I'm feeling better and are back in the office.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 19, 2022 Posted May 19, 2022 I always hear Dakota Hudson's name and I conflate Dakota Johnson and Kate Hudson into some weirdly conceived MLB pitching offspring of Melanie Griffith and Goldie Hawn.

Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2022 Posted May 19, 2022 Thinking I may unplug from social media this afternoon and watch the replay tonight instead. Too much going on at work and then after work today to give this game proper focus.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2022 Posted May 19, 2022 This is turning to resemble the Matz game from the other day, got to the starter early but could have done more. And then not only failed to tack on (only 3 hits) but let him get his pitch count back in order despite going 30+ in inning #1
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2022 Posted May 19, 2022 Paul Goldschmidt is a monumental pain in the rosy red rectum.(from the UMDB) He has played 70 games against the Mets, with an over .300 BA, 275 AB, 15 or 16 HR and a gazillion RBI.And, he has never been hit with a pitch.Have they even ever tried to move him off the plate? Tried a different pitching approach? He seems too comfortable up there.Later
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2022 Posted May 19, 2022 Goldschmidt's career OPS vs the Mets is only a shade higher than his overall OPS. It's not like the Mets are missing some secret formula.
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2022 Posted May 19, 2022 Sure seems like he has the Mets number. but I guess he's a universal pita.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2022 Posted May 19, 2022 Most players who get labeled as a '[your team here] Killer' usually have another label; 'really fucking good player'.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2022 Posted May 19, 2022 Yeah, Goldschmidt is just a good player--and sounds like a 1960s era bargain regional beer brand. I'll have a Schaefer, and he'll have a Goldschmidt.Holy shit is McNeil a star. Great play and throw!
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2022 Posted May 19, 2022 it wasn't really a great throw (I think it three hopped in there) but it was the smart throw and an accurate one from a tough throwing position which wound up stealing an out.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 19, 2022 Posted May 19, 2022 Goldy came up around the same time as Ike Davis, and for a short time, looked like the lesser player.Twelve years later, he's been a constant All-Star/MVP candidate, and Ike is a trivia question.McNeil, on the other hand, is a gift that keeps giving.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2022 Posted May 19, 2022 How many frigging liners have we hit for outs in this series?!?
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 19, 2022 Posted May 19, 2022 Pallante was pummeled that inning, and not just literally. That he got out of it with nothing scored is living lucky.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2022 Posted May 19, 2022 Don't like them letting the Cards hang around like this.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2022 Posted May 19, 2022 I have to shamefully confess that I was in favor of trading McNeil this offseason for a starting pitcher.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2022 Posted May 19, 2022 It's Jeff McNeil world and the rest of us are just renting rooms from him.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 19, 2022 Posted May 19, 2022 And he hasn't slugged any teammates once ... as far as we know!!
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2022 Posted May 19, 2022 Man, I thought Pujols had gotten that one.

Marshmallowmilkshake Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2022 Author Posted May 19, 2022 JD not helping his trade value with those Ks!
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2022 Posted May 19, 2022 Perhaps if Pujols was actually as young as he claims then it would have gone out.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 19, 2022 Posted May 19, 2022 Dinky hit for Bader, but that was too much plate for an 0-2 pitch.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 19, 2022 Posted May 19, 2022 The 0-2 breaking pitch was a perfect stealing opportunity for Bader. Shoulda climbed the ladder.
