Pete K's on a 5-1 count.
If he just stood there the game would have been tied. Of course, he's not gonna do that but his pitch recognition has improved this year.

What a piece of garbage Sewald has become. He stunk as a Met and I can't remember him from any of the myriad of RPs that came and went. Now he's decent so good for him but it's not like we gave a crap about him then or give a crap about him now.

One more American band I'd rather listen to than Aerosmith is Little Feat. Just saying.

Lol

I played that Milkcow Blues YouTube unplugged video that was posted. The song was actually listenable, if only attention whore Steven Tyler like went away and left the stage till the song was over. Does he even sing or does he just scream his way through the song? And his harp playing is really inferior.

At the risk of overstatement, those last two ABs were the two worst ABs ever.

Lotta shit went down in that bottom 9th.

* Escobar's triple -- a firing squad offense if he's not safe at 3rd and still probably a bad move even though he was. Essentially no upside to the extra base

* Mazeika swinging on 2-0 (referenced above) -- I don't mind that one so much. They had already scored once (so down 2 runs, not 3) Mazz is therefore the tying run and he picked

out a fastball and tried to lose it which he showed last night he's capable of doing.

* Mazeika going to 3rd -- Again, you HAVE to make it but here there's more upside: getting to 3rd with <2 outs as the tying run and allowing Nimmo to get to 2nd as the winning run,

plus taking away the possible GiDP. A closer play on a much shorter thrown from shallow LF ... but still a better gamble.

* Servais pulling in the IF w/runners on 2nd & 3rd when a single loses him the game. Yeah you Might! cut down the tying run but, like the booth, I can't condone that one.

* Walking Lindor -- sets up both the force all around and the Righty/Righty matchup for the slider pitcher ... but is that worth bringing the game-tying BB into play?

I could make arguments either way. Don't know what Castillo's BB tendencies are.

oe: and BMFC1 brought up the idea of pinch-running for Mazeika and taking a chance on a non-catcher catching in extras if it came to that.

At least I'm not still on that old baseball board* with that virulent anti-Mets posting M's fan any more.

It still hurts.

Later

* = in case you're curious, it was FASTBALL. COM

I thought this move was madness on Servais's part. I haven't checked the stats, but my eyeballs tell me that Pete has really improved his bat to ball skills this season. But even the best hitters fail seven times out of ten yadda yadda yadda.

It's just ... I'm sorry for the lack of faith, but ... there was almost nobody I wanted up there less than Alfonso.

And yeah, he really has restrained himself of late on chasing the slider away, but not so much at all there.

He has, but I can still make arguments for the other side: Lindor = lefty hitter, faster, better career track record. And

mainly that you don't need to fear Pete's power as much there since they only needed a single to win, not a GS.

Looking up Diego Castillo's career numbers after the fact, he has better numbers vs RHBs as compared to LHBs but not

dramatically so, and his BB rate is somewhat high but, again, nothing crazy (3.3/9) so factor that stuff in how you will.
