The forecast is calling for rain Friday. But on a clear, cool Thursday night, the sky fell on the Phillies.

I love how Gary Cohen looks like he's conducting an orchestra.

Relive this from every angle. Here's Howie with the radio call. Another superb call - the greatness of our team is only matched by the energy of our broadcasters.

"Holeee snikeees!!"

It tough for me to think of Howie in semi-retirement and still so sharp. And it's disappointing that nobody's found a way to get him to occasionally slide over to the TV booth in recent years on the times that Gary Cohen has been unavailable.

It would be sad if it's remembered as the fuck-a-band game.

It's just a band. We're not in middle school. 'Turn up the speakers.'

It's hilarious/wonderful when you catch up on old threads and get to the one about one of the biggest wins in recent memory and it's mostly about Aerosmith.

I'm still afraid I will jinx the team if I come out and say that this year is different.

And the best American bands are CCR, Big Star, and The Byrds.

I'm in the odd position where The Eagles rub me wrong (and given the behavior of the average rock musician, that takes a lot), but I like a lot of their music.

Soul acts, much more egregiously, got broadly and aggressively weeded out as the AOR format faded and "Classic Rock" was born.

I always heard Motown on the NYC classic rock radio stations I grew up listening to. Way more than either Aerosmith or The Eagles, that's for sure. Just sayin'. In fact, I can't, right now, think of more than two Aerosmith songs that got any play at all -- Dream On and Walk this Way.

Also, Dolly Parton's in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. So if Dolly, ...

I don't recall Motown being played on WPLJ, WNEW, WBAB, WRKI or the like.

They all played way too much Eagles for me and I don't even dislike them. It's

true that Aersosmith got very little airplay in the tri-state area. It was a story or

maybe 2 or3 but I can't remember why but it was definitely a thing* for sure.

*thing - not because they sucked or were otherwise unliked but more like black-

balled from the station's mostly-programmed playlists. (I know, WNEW was more

free form back then)
