kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted October 11, 2021 Posted October 11, 2021 Did you guys see Chipper totally muff the foul ball in the stands?Fuck the Braves -- I'm generally an American League guy in the post-season anyways, unless it's the youse-knowse-whoose
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 11, 2021 Posted October 11, 2021 So maybe (TBR) yanking Colin McQ after 18 pitches wasn't such a good idea.
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted October 11, 2021 Posted October 11, 2021 Not that it seems to be helping them in the final score, but the Rays have taken away around 10 hits from the Red Sox with great defensive plays in this series.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 11, 2021 Posted October 11, 2021 So a new pitcher for TBR, Fleming, starts the bottom of the 7th, throws 13 pitches getting an out then giving up a single.Out comes the pitching coach for a chat, a chat with the same pitcher who was just brought into the game two hitters ago.So the freshly instructed pitcher promptly gives up a hit on the very next pitch.Out comes the manager this time in order to make a pitching change. So that's approx a six minute time frame -- mound conference, pitch, pitching change-- where ONE pitch was thrown.Nobody can think that's a sustainable model.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 11, 2021 Posted October 11, 2021 These managers keep looking for the reliever who Doesn't have it that night ... and they usually manage to find him.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 11, 2021 Posted October 11, 2021 On the left coast they're scoreless after one, Alex Wood vs Max Scherzer

Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted October 11, 2021 Posted October 11, 2021 And a bad hop on a relay to first base ends up dooming the Rays. The Red Sox are the first team to advance to the final four.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted October 11, 2021 Posted October 11, 2021 Ugh, I hope that we're not going to have Boston v Houston and Atlanta v LA.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted October 11, 2021 Posted October 11, 2021 Congratz to the Sox. They earned it

G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted October 11, 2021 Author Posted October 11, 2021 Giants-Red Sox would be the most picturesque ballpark matchup in modern times, maybe anytime.

Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted October 11, 2021 Posted October 11, 2021 Giants on the precipice of the NLCS. MLB execs hoping to salvage at least half of their dream Dodgers-Yankees matchup are sweating.

G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted October 12, 2021 Author Posted October 12, 2021 Brandon Crawford did a nice Bud Harrelson with the leap and grab last night.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 12, 2021 Posted October 12, 2021 Between the little I saw last night plus highlights this morning, the Giants threw a whole lotta leather at LAD
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 12, 2021 Posted October 12, 2021 If today's CHW/HOU started on time then there's something seriously wrong with this sport because they're more than two hours in and yet it's still just the bottom of the 4th.5-1 'strosNext update will be after the 6th inning, or at 9PM EDT ... whichever comes first.
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted October 12, 2021 Posted October 12, 2021 Listening to the HOU/CWS game on the Chicago radio broadcast. All the ad breaks seem to be for sports betting followed by PSAs for gambling disorders. Depressing.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 12, 2021 Posted October 12, 2021 I don't know if it's required by law or merely good practices just in case something goes sideways on account of the gambling concerns that all these leagues are now in bed with, but all ads connected with gambling and even the crawls across the bottom of the screen on sports networks giving the latest odds, point spreads, or other fanta-crap stats, are routinely followed by gambling help info.btw, they have in fact reached the 7tb inning in the south side of Chicago, a mere 3:20 after first pitch of a below average scoring game.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted October 12, 2021 Posted October 12, 2021 Looks like a Red Sox-Astros ALCS. Bleh. Both sides will bang garbage cans.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 12, 2021 Posted October 12, 2021 Yeah, that game in Chicago still hasn't ended yet (about 4:20 as we type) but presumably it will end at some point and seeing as how it's 10-1 Houston the Astros get revenge on the 2005 WS sweepeven though it's now impossible for them to get the revenge in the actual World Series
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 12, 2021 Posted October 12, 2021 The [CROSSOUT]Atlanta[/CROSSOUT] Cobb County organist just played a rendition of Styx I'M SAILING AWAY when Avasail Garcia came to bat.Earlier, following a leaping catch by SS Swanson, came a few bars of STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN

Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted October 12, 2021 Posted October 12, 2021 Freddie 1, Hader 0
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted October 12, 2021 Posted October 12, 2021 Every Brewer should do to Devin Williams what he did to the wall. Williams would have been pitching in the 8th, not Hader, when FF hit the HR and that was Williams' job.
