I wonder if Luis didn't do so earlier because he only has 3 players left on the bench (he used Maz and that leaves Peraza, Nido and Almora. It's another reason why a 5-player bench is better and I suspect that will happen this weekend when Nimmo and JD return and they have 3 games using the DH.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 9, 2021 Posted May 9, 2021 Well, letting a popup fall in with two out in the ninth is not that ominous.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted May 9, 2021 Posted May 9, 2021 Phew! Way to go, Mets. Now we hope for the best on Jake and enjoy the off-day.

smg58 Old-Timey Member Posted May 9, 2021 Posted May 9, 2021 OK, so one of the biggest in the long list of flaws of the Wilpon era was the tendency to bring guys back from an injury before it was prudent, thereby turning a small injury issue into a much bigger injury issue. This regime was supposed to be different.
