Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 14, 2022 Posted June 14, 2022 The Q should totally be outlined in yella.Doing the digits outlined in the proper color for the corresponding train would be fun, if somewhat less uniform. Of course, there is no 0 train.
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted June 14, 2022 Posted June 14, 2022 If there was a jersey that said "Mets - Willets Point" across the chest I would be obligated to purchase one.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted June 14, 2022 Posted June 14, 2022 I'll do the same if they go with "Benjamin Grimm"
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted June 14, 2022 Posted June 14, 2022 That would be on the Marvel Comics Connect uniforms.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2022 Posted June 18, 2022 I ❤️ the grill patch. I think the 414 inside MKE is clunky but I get the industry feel they were going for. Jersey itself, eh. Powder blue is nice but who cares. http://brewers.com/cityconnecthttp://brewers.com/cityconnect
Marshmallowmilkshake Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2022 Posted June 18, 2022 I'm in Milwaukee and we had our stadium tour planned for yesterday morning, not realizing the team was unveiling the City Connect uniforms that day. The team had many mannequins on display and cutouts of some of the players. People seemed to like them. Lots of activity in the store. I bought a cap and a bunch of people asked me about it during our other adventures. Great stadium tour, by the way!
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 20, 2022 Posted June 20, 2022 As much as I reject the cartel-ized standardization of uniform statements being made across the board for all teams, watering down what any one team stands for, the Toronto Blue Jays hat recently launched as part of the 2022 July 4th weekend collection has to be some sort of new low in ridiculousment. There's no way these are actually going to make it onto the field, is there?
A Boy Named Seo Old-Timey Member Posted June 20, 2022 Author Posted June 20, 2022 I saw on tv like 300 pissed off truckers from Toronto that would rock the fuck out that hat.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 21, 2022 Posted June 21, 2022 Hmmm ... perhaps MLB and New Era can read the room better than I do.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted June 21, 2022 Posted June 21, 2022 Don't the Blue Jays play in Canada?
Marshmallowmilkshake Old-Timey Member Posted June 21, 2022 Posted June 21, 2022 I really liked the last three versions of the Independence Day caps. But these are just awful.

A Boy Named Seo Old-Timey Member Posted April 17, 2023 Author Posted April 17, 2023 The Rangers dropped their City Connect this morning and I think they look pretty damn great. I'm not sure how much I dig the dark pants, but everything else looks killer.https://news.sportslogos.net/2023/04/17/dreaming-the-big-dream-texas-rangers-unveil-new-city-connect-uniforms/baseball/https://news.sportslogos.net/2023/04/17/dreaming-the-big-dream-texas-rangers-unveil-new-city-connect-uniforms/baseball/[FIMG=600]https://news.sportslogos.net/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/texas-rangers-city-connect-uniform-nike-mlb-sportslogosnet-graphic-1000x1000sq-cream-top-black-cap-TX-logo-sleeve-patch.jpg[/FIMG]

Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted April 17, 2023 Posted April 17, 2023 I hope the Mets go with either the Unisphere or the blue and orange tiles that used to adorn Shea Stadium.Either that, or blood seeping through a bandage.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 17, 2023 Posted April 17, 2023 The elements on that Texas uniform pop nicely, but that insignia feels a little too Nazi-Gothic to me.I can't see the numbers too well, but they kind of recall the Expos' digits to me.I've always wanted to see the Rangers take the field in cowboy hats.

MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted April 17, 2023 Posted April 17, 2023 And no tribute paid to the Dallas Black Giants who played there for about 50 years until 1949?They could have done something, even if it was on the inside of the collar.Sad.Later
batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted April 17, 2023 Posted April 17, 2023 Love that combination sleeve patch concept. /rollseyes. Maybe the Mets'll do a combo patch for their city connect uni, too, of the NY Presbyterian Hospital main building but with a gigantic Mr. Met head impaled on the building's flagpole. And on the inside of the uni, there could be an embroidery of Mo Vaughn and Daniel Vogelbach wolfing down a Domino's pizza pie because nothing evokes Citi Field like Domino's pizza. It's all about the symbolism. And then, last but most importantly, most important, one singular jigsaw puzzle piece. I say last because that's the last piece of the puzzle "symbolizing" the Mets human last piece to the puzzle, Gary Carter , who singlehandedly won a World Series for the Mets before he ever put on his Mets uniform. Or eight jigsaw puzzle pieces symbolizing Carter's Met uniform number, which hasn't been issued in about 20 years, the most puzzling thing in Mets franchise history.

What the hell else does a guy have to do to for his uniform number to be retired and to get a statue of himself erected in his honor?
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted April 18, 2023 Posted April 18, 2023 I agree. I appreciate what Gary Carter contributed to the Mets, but if I was in charge, I'd issue number 8 to a backup catcher or fifth outfielder. It really ought to be put back in circulation.
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted April 18, 2023 Posted April 18, 2023 Does anyone actually know anyone who thinks Camera Carter's #8 should be retired?
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 18, 2023 Posted April 18, 2023 Both I guess. It's become a damned-if-you-do/damned-if-you-don't PR predicament for the Mets, and the typical corporate way teams handle that is to stick with the status quo. But that's wimpy. The bold organization knows there's always a third way.

Understood the importance of being a role model. His induction into the Mets Hall of Fame is well-deserved. I'd be fine of the Mets wanted to retire his number. Backup catchers and fifth outfielders?
