G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted March 22, 2021 Posted March 22, 2021 That clever young man of a statistical bent (a fellow USF Bull, per his profile) is at it again, this time toeing the rubber.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted March 22, 2021 Posted March 22, 2021 Same as I thought on the hits version of this graphic, the early-mid 1990s were some lean years for Mets fans.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted March 23, 2021 Posted March 23, 2021 I watched. Still don't understand the distiction between orange guys and blue guys. Should be righty lefty that would be fun.The top 15 as of now-- 13 outstanding, All-Star level hurlers, a decent-kinda compiler in Bobby J Jones, and Jon Niese, who came of age in the high-whiff era
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted March 23, 2021 Posted March 23, 2021 Pitchers with the most strikeouts who came along too late to ever appear in the top 15: Steven Matz, 552; Tom Glavine, 516.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted March 23, 2021 Posted March 23, 2021 I liked how long Tug hung around the top three or four.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted March 23, 2021 Posted March 23, 2021 Wow, deGrom is going to pass Kooz and hop into third after he strikes out 440 guys this year.

I watched it again, thinking that as new guys emerged onto the list, that they would alternate between the two colors. In the later years, when things slowed down and it was easier to track, that seemed to be the case -- most of the time. But it looked like Jacob deGrom followed Jon Niese, and both of them were blue.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 23, 2021 Posted March 23, 2021 Yeah, if you look at that freeze at the beginning before you click to play, they are all orange-and-blue-alternating.Also, if you look at that freeze at the beginning before you click to play, you may feel a brief burst of happiness for the late Herb Moford. Just look at him there, anchoring the big 15.
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted March 23, 2021 Posted March 23, 2021 Dwight Gooden shoots up that list like a fucking rocket. That was cool!
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted March 23, 2021 Posted March 23, 2021 I love the way Seaver and Doc just jump up from the bottom.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 23, 2021 Posted March 23, 2021 I liked how Coney stayed static for 11 years before adding a tinkling of 13 more strikeouts.
cal sharpie Old-Timey Member Posted March 24, 2021 Posted March 24, 2021 Al Jackson, the original leader, held out til 2006.
