Now that the prime lefty relief merchandise is off the shelf, what else do we have available for purchase that will help us with nagging late-inning lefty-removal?

-- Solid, good old reliable mid-shelf lefty brand, like, say, https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/split.fcgi?id=wilsoju10&year=2019&t=pJustin https://www.fangraphs.com/players/justin-wilson/4301/stats?position=PWilson: round peg for round hole; familiar, if uncreative, problem-solving

-- Surprisingly effective off-label-use righty, a la https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/split.fcgi?id=rosentr01&year=Career&t=pTrevor https://www.fangraphs.com/players/trevor-rosenthal/10745/stats?position=PRosenthal, with a surprising https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/split.fcgi?id=rosentr01&year=Career&t=pplatoon tilt : interesting, if potentially-more-expensive option (potential bonus: extra Trevor)

-- Discount rack/"woke" brand (and cheap bounce-back candidate?) https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/d/doolise01.shtmlSean https://www.fangraphs.com/players/sean-doolittle/1581/stats?position=PDoolittle: likely cheap, veddddddddy interesting, possibly done

-- Something else you're considering putting in the cart?

I got no gripe with Wilson. Doolittle is too much of a lottery ticket at this point.

It's interesting in that the team has a history of solving lefty relief shortfalls by not going big.

Wilson was grabbed as a free agent in late January. Blevins was acquired for a spare part at the very end of spring training. Josh Edgy was a 30th-round draft choice. I'm pretty sure Scott Rice was somebody Sandy met at a flea market. Even Feliciano kept bouncing back to them after being cut loose.

I wouldn't say it's smarter to let the game come to you, but it's certainly worked for them. Lefty relievers are weirdos and while every team wants one, they usually don't want too many, and so the market for them never quite closes.

Can you think of the last time the Mets brought in a lefty relief specialist (non-closer) for two or more years?

It seems like a priority right now — it's the closest thing to what I'd call a "hole" — but I'm not sure what Sandy's priority is. I've read that Justin Wilson was aiming to retire and read elsewhere that the team still interested in him. If I had to guess, I imagine they offer him a year plus an option. They may have to shed one or two other guyz along the way.

Carson just turned 32 two days ago. Still pitching (as of 2019) but hasn't been in affiliated ball since 2014.

Pour me a cup of Carson.

Doolittle is a righteous dude but I don't see a role for him in Flushing. I'm Just fine with Wilson.

Trevor Rosenthal needs a custom jersey with an opening between the numbers -- so that the giant fork sticking out of his back doesn't tear the fabric.

Well if we get Gilmartin, maybe we can hire his wife to give scouting reports to our opponents.

Tell me you were influenced, even a little, by the new Tag Team commercial?

I have never heard of this guy before. But from what I'm reading, seems like he's good against lefties, not so good against righties.
