Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted October 2, 2020 Posted October 2, 2020 That's really funny. I wanted to say "Mike Judge" so I just said "Who is Judge" too
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted October 10, 2020 Posted October 10, 2020 For a little extra Sheadenfreude on Elimination Day, I relish tuning to state television — YES (or YEECH) — to soak in the postloss sorrow and the pity. According to Michael Kay, the MFYs were unfairly disadvantaged because MLB didn't announce before the trade deadline that there'd be no off days during these series, thus they didn't know they needed to swoop in on some lesser team's roster and pluck another starting pitcher. That is a big league alibi.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted October 10, 2020 Posted October 10, 2020 BBBBUUUTTTT wasn't getting Cole going to be the missing piece, Mr. Kay?(snicker)Later

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted December 18, 2020 Posted December 18, 2020 Deeply mixed feelings as I read that my alma mater has landed top-flight lacrosse recruit Jaziel Rivera, and then realize that he's the son of Mariano Rivera. My lacrosse engagement is such that I think I can maintain my equilibrium.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted December 18, 2020 Posted December 18, 2020 At least he doesn't play water polo!

Do you actually follow these things or was this solely in some news somewhere specifically because he is Rivera's kid?I may be most shocked to learn that they play lacrosse in Panama or anywhere else really.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted December 20, 2020 Posted December 20, 2020 I'm pretty sure the kid spent a good chunk of his early life in upper class prep schools in either Westchester or nearby Jersey, iow, pretty much a breeding grounds for lacrosse players.I kind of like it when a kid opts for a different sport from his father.

Our campus had a modest urban footprint, with indoor track our most successful sport. They didn't even have lacrosse when I was there, or anything remotely resembling the facilities for it. But we were only about 20 minutes from Yankee Stadium II.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted December 20, 2020 Posted December 20, 2020 The guy who played shortstop on my college team, Ron Marino, also was on the lacrosse team. He and his lacrosse teammates formed a team that kicked butt on the intramural touch football league for three years. I played with him in baseball and against him in football.Later
