Edgy MD Site Manager Posted February 25, 2020 Posted February 25, 2020 Luis Severino has apparently severino'd a UCL and will miss the season while spending time in Florida visiting with Tommy John.It apparently is a result of an injury sustained in his last playoff start, but not picked up on until now despite multiple examinations, including two MRIs and a CT scan.I wish missed diagnoses on nobody. But could you imagine if it were Mets doctors who swung and missed three times?
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted February 25, 2020 Posted February 25, 2020 it's almost like medical stuff is tough. he'll probably miss almost all, maybe all, of 2021 too. he didn't really play last year either, rotator cuff issues and then strained a lat rushing back, and perhaps he still rushed back.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted February 26, 2020 Posted February 26, 2020 No Severino Paxton or MarquezLoasiga (sic) better be good
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted February 26, 2020 Posted February 26, 2020 So their rotation at this point is Gerrit Cole, Tanaka, and JA Happ, plus some combination of:- Jordan Montgomery: 27 y/o, LH, 6th in ROY in 2017 but just 30 IP since due to TJS- Luis Cessa*: 28, RH, 4 partial seasons as a Yanqui totaling 86 games/19 starts (none in 2019) 4.50 ERA- Jonathan Loaisiga: 25 y/o, RH, 24 ML games including 8 starts combined in 2018 + 19- Deivi Garcia: small RHP (5' 9"/165), turns 21 in May, top-100 prospect this winter [24, 65, 92 on various lists], 12 starts at AA, 6 at AAA- Mike King: 24, RH, 2 ML IP late last year, missed much of 2019 w/arm issuesAnd then some combination of James Paxton (if/when he gets back from back surgery), Domingo German (63 more games to go on domestic violence suspension), or the ever popular mystery man/men.* Bonus Quiz: Luis Cessa, originally signed by the Mets, has been traded twice during his career, both times in 2015 and both in deals involving current NY Mets. One is fairly easy, the other not so much.
Guest 41Forever Guests Posted February 26, 2020 Posted February 26, 2020 Buster Olney's guest on the Baseball Tonight podcast said Cole will have a "monster year," will win 20 games and is the prohibitive favorite for the Cy Young Award.Let's see how he reacts to pitching in a bandbox.

By December of that same year the Tigers flipped Cessa to the Yanx in exchange for Justin Wilson.

Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted February 27, 2020 Author Posted February 27, 2020 Sucks to be a MFY fan and also a YouTube TV subscriber, as they're going to give YES the boot starting on Saturday. So that's pretty great.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted February 28, 2020 Posted February 28, 2020 MFY fan friend of mine posted that he dropped cable yesterday morning for YouTube TV, and then they made that announcement a few hours later. LOLOLOLOLOL
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted February 28, 2020 Posted February 28, 2020 this is an interesting powerplay by YouTube no? I mean, being able to get those games is a BIG reason why people switch to YouTube TV and I can't imagine any price being 'too high' unless Sinclair is making a play for it's own mass-streaming solution, which I guess could be the case.Of course, Alphabet is filthy rich anyway..
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 19, 2020 Posted March 19, 2020 Phil Hughes, not particularly jazzed about being honored by the Yankees.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 23, 2020 Posted May 23, 2020 So it seems that Aaron's Judge's girlfriend was arrested for "extreme DUI" (BAL north of .15) in Arizona a couple days ago.During the arrest she tried playing the 'Do you know who my boyfriend is?' card to the cop.Not a good move sweetheart.

Fuck the Yankees!"
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 24, 2020 Posted May 24, 2020 The problem is that the alcohol intake that has damaged your judgment to the point where you're driving with a load on tends to lead a lot of people to be something less than humble and penitent and circumspect when talking to the officer, whether you're Glenn Campbell or Reese Witherspoon or Mel Gibson. You're best advised to confine your comments to yes, sir, and no, mam'n.Most cops, particularly highway patrolmen, are used to folks talking shit at the time, and don't let themselves get provoked. But that shit-talking goes into the report. Also, embarrassingly playing your famous boyfriend's name for legal favors isn't going to help your relationship much.
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted May 24, 2020 Posted May 24, 2020 I mean, bribing..sorry, showing your PBA card, is SOP in these situations isn't it?Plus damn, real profession and classy to leak that she dropped his name. guy must be a Yankees fan too, so surprised it didn't work.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 30, 2020 Posted May 30, 2020 I have to say, I'd gladly go for 60 straight hours of Bruce Boisclair programming. Jim Bethke? Victor Diaz?Bring it on!
