bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted November 28, 2019 Posted November 28, 2019 Name one specific thing (one) that is Met-related that you are thankful for today. Given the spirit of the day, no sarcasm is allowed!1. Howie Rose. Howie is one of the best radio announcers in the game and he's all ours. Howie is a pleasure to listen to and makes every game better.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted November 28, 2019 Posted November 28, 2019 2. Pete Alonso. Better than mooks like us deserve, as a person and a player.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted November 28, 2019 Posted November 28, 2019 Jeff McNeil has shown us that hustle and hard work can pay off as much as raw talent.Later
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted November 28, 2019 Posted November 28, 2019 Gary Cohen, who has made every Mets game and every colleague better through his talent for more than three decades.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted November 28, 2019 Posted November 28, 2019 CitiField. It is a beautiful stadium and a great place to watch a game.
Guest 41Forever Guests Posted November 28, 2019 Posted November 28, 2019 The team doesn't sell the yearbook online, but lists a number to a call to place an order. Every year I call and leave a message, and a few hours later I'll get a call. It's the same lovely woman who calls back, and every year we talk about the team and baseball in general. She remembers me, and asked about Michigan and what I'm doing now. We figure out how to best bundle the programs and yearbook to make postage least expensive, and whether I need to call back later in the season for the last issue of the program. (Not the case this year. She said they produced one less edition than usual.)Anyway, I'm grateful for that annual connection with a nice person who works for the Mets. It's a reminder the team is larger than the players and that everyone can make fans feel special.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted November 28, 2019 Posted November 28, 2019 1986. It happened at the perfect age for me. I was 23,old enough to know how special it was and young enough to think it really mattered.
RealityChuck Old-Timey Member Posted November 28, 2019 Posted November 28, 2019 Jacob DeGrom. It's nice to have a real ace again.
dgwphotography Old-Timey Member Posted November 28, 2019 Posted November 28, 2019 I'm just thankful for the Mets. As much as I get irritated my ownership and management, my life would be much poorer if this franchise, with all of its quirks, didn't exist.
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted November 28, 2019 Posted November 28, 2019 I don't 'this' often, but this:All the fans are true to the orange and blue,So hurry up and come on down -'cause we've got ourselves a ball club,The Mets of New York town!
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted November 28, 2019 Posted November 28, 2019 Sarah Grace Hefner is back on the wifey roster, to say nothing of Jessica Lugo.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted November 28, 2019 Posted November 28, 2019 Thankful for Tuesday nights, and meaningful games in September
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted November 29, 2019 Posted November 29, 2019 Thankful for Dom Smith who always seemed to be happy and smiling this past year, despite a bum injury and having lost his job in the spring. Loved his exclamation point on the 2019 season, too.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted November 29, 2019 Posted November 29, 2019 This may seem a little hokey, but I'm thankful for y'all. Sports fandom is weird, really, but I love that I've developed actual live friendships with many of you that transcend our little internet haven. We've gone to games together, tailgated, gone out for drinks, been to each other's houses and parties, and connected in cities across the country. It's really awesome. It was someone (MetFairy, IIRC) a few years ago who told the story - and I'm paraphrasing here - of meeting up with this group and being asked by a non-CPF friend, "how do you know that they're not axe murderers?" Well, even though I know you all *are* axe murderers, I'm thankful for you anyway. Thanks for being you, my Axe Murderer Friends.
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted November 29, 2019 Posted November 29, 2019 Haha, yes Axe Murderers is all Baseball Mom ((tmf)...
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted November 29, 2019 Posted November 29, 2019 For the record, Not once have I killed anyone with an axe and even the ones I've injured with them have all recovered with few, if any, lingering effects.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted November 29, 2019 Posted November 29, 2019 (edited) After all, we're not MFY fans.And I'm thankful for that.Later Edited November 29, 2019 by Guest

Guest 41Forever Guests Posted November 30, 2019 Posted November 30, 2019 I'm thankful for the Home Run Apple. I just think it's really neat — and special to the Mets!
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted November 30, 2019 Posted November 30, 2019 I'm also thankful that the team has seemingly started to embrace its history in earnest. They pulled all sorts of guys out of the woodwork for appearances before games and on podcasts and whatnot.
