Guest 41Forever Guests Posted September 15, 2019 Posted September 15, 2019 I was scared watching that come off the bat.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted September 15, 2019 Posted September 15, 2019 That could have been worse.Let's go get that run back, fellers.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 15, 2019 Posted September 15, 2019 In addition to the bullpen problems, if McNeil & Alonso aren't going to hit we're going to be in trouble on that front as well.
Guest 41Forever Guests Posted September 15, 2019 Posted September 15, 2019 It was asking a lot of Lugo.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 15, 2019 Posted September 15, 2019 The Mets have had just four run-scoring hits in this entire seriesGame 1: JDD's 2nd inning solo HR off Kershaw ... then nothing else until a Rosario single plates a run but only after they were down by 8Game 2: Rajai's bases-clearing 3-ribby doubleGame 3: Nimmo 2-run triple
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted September 15, 2019 Posted September 15, 2019 Cano giving us life!Punch runner please?
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 15, 2019 Posted September 15, 2019 Shouldn't the runner be Haggerty and not Davis?
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted September 15, 2019 Posted September 15, 2019 Panik instead of Frazier??
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted September 15, 2019 Posted September 15, 2019 Haggerty was already used to run after the Davis HBP.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 15, 2019 Posted September 15, 2019 Ay.That pitch one called strike is looking like boochit on GameDay.
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted September 15, 2019 Posted September 15, 2019 Damn.Strike one looked outside live too, but not egregiously so
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted September 15, 2019 Author Posted September 15, 2019 I've come to the conclusion there are two stages of Mets grief:1) Acceptance2) Ah, fuck
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted September 16, 2019 Posted September 16, 2019 They have no bullpen. I would have at least let Wheeler sniff the 8th there. He was at 96 pitches and finished the 7th strong. First sign of trouble you pull him.Oh well, meaningful games in September at least.

I'm not sure why any manager would lift him there.

Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted September 16, 2019 Posted September 16, 2019 Without a playoff appearance, there's no way Callaway returns, right? Right?

I have no idea who is willing to zag when the whole world is zigging.

Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted September 16, 2019 Posted September 16, 2019 And with the soft schedule you'd have to think the September record improves. I think they have one more run in them, which I hope will be fun. But ultimately they'll fall short by a few games. And instead of seeing the energy this fan base had for a few weeks and doing the right thing, the Wilpons and Brodie will use this second half push as justification for not doing much this offseason.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 16, 2019 Posted September 16, 2019 I just thought that, for much of the year, this was as good an offense as the Mets had ever put together, with not a single guy you didn't mind seeing starting on any given night. But they sure didn't squeeze league-leading numbers out of them in the end — which is a pity.I don't want a team that puts more time in the batting cage than anybody else, although that's admirable. I want a team that takes the edges they're given and exploits them for 1,000 runs per year. I continue to think their shortcoming isn't personnel, but philosophy.Did you know that if Brandon Nimmo had enough plate appearances to qualify, he'd be fifth among active players in OBP? That's with his big problems early this year and everything factored in. Everybody ahead of him pretty much already have their Cooperstown tickets punched. And he still ha room to get better. Why in the world would anybody bat that guy seventh?
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 16, 2019 Posted September 16, 2019 And tonight I get my wish!Guys, you should try this agenda-advancement thing. Set a reasonable goal, but be persistent.
duan Old-Timey Member Posted September 17, 2019 Posted September 17, 2019 I really think you have to look at Calloway in this game. Lifting Wheeler is one thing, but to my mind the bigger sin was Panik. I can not for the life of me think that he was the best option. After the sweep I thought we'd still need to go 12-4 to get to the playoffs. since then we've gone 1-3 - so if we go 11-1 we'll still get there .... and they *can* but they won't.
