See him on/in stuff every once and awhile. Looks good, for a Yankee fan.

Interesting that The Sheriff ended up in computing security. Back in the day before

broadband and firewalls he used to superimpose a grainy message on my screen some-

times if I was 'getting out of line' that said something like you're going to get banned if

you keep things up. Weird fuck, I have not one nice memory of him whatsoever.

He looks different without the cowboy hat. I spoke with him on the phone once. Mets were playing the Dodgers, I'm guessing, and he was somewhere where he couldn't watch the game and this was pre-MLB on your phone days, so he asked for someone to call him with an update. So I called him and told him we were losing or whatever.

A couple of us are fb friends with Amblood. He's quite the travelling adventurer.

Is Rey Ordoñez Deathwatch still online somewhere? Definitely one of the top

4-5 Met online moments the last two decades.

Rey Ordonez Deathwatch was one of the best things I ever did, but it's long dead.

The best thing was the spontaneity. Ambler says "I wonder if there's a website counting down to the end of Ordonez' career" and thanks to his old character-actor publicity shots I built the web page in like 25 minutes and replied in the same thread.

My weirdest JSW memory was when he caught me in a sting operation to suss out people who didn't worship him. I think he gained control (with cooperation) of another user account them PMed asking for opinions on him. I said soemthing to the effect of I admiring the enthusaism but it came off as a lot of name dropping and not great perspective-- not really a criticism but an observation and later that evening got a JSW email SO YOU THINK I DROP NAMES AND HAVE NO PERSPECTIVE?

I might have saved a copy; I'll look later when I can more conveniently get

on the ol' way-way-back server and look around.

That's wild. Wonder if that was a feature in the old MOFO board. Gotta keep you rabble-rousers in line somehow.

Is that the guy who wrote the Airstrip post?

Is that the guy who wrote the Airstrip post?

Nah.

The guy at the top was something like 14 y/o (hence the "feel old?" subject) back when he started a NYM website which was attached to a fan forum (Mets Online FOrum) which eventually spawned this

place when much of this crew made a break for it after that one started to get overrun by too many teenagers (of all ages) and after too many disagreements turned into too many full out flame wars.

God help me but I did love it so.

The next guy mentioned (Weisman) kind of ran the place with a bias towards those he was friends with and against those with whom he wasn't. Most of us weren't. He's referenced in the 'Airstrip'

piece but that was written by a guy, 'Big Al', who'd pitched as high as AAA before arm injuries ended his dream ... or at least that's what he claimed. Could have been an actuary for all we know;

you know the definition of an actuary, right? ... someone too dull to be an accountant. 'Al' would only post occasionally but when he did it would often be with the flair of a noir fiction writer which

tended to make him a breath of fresh air in a sea otherwise full of angry screamers.

'Ambler' was the forum curmudgeon.

"The Airstrip" post was one of the only things I ever saved from the old MOFO. That and those poems YGB made out of joelmon's rants.

When & how did he become a Yankees fan? Or was he wolf in sheep's clothing the whole time?

The Poetry of Joelmon:

THE BALLAD OF CUDDYER/JOHNOSN

He turned down Cuddyer/Johnosn

just as I thought he would

Horrible idea.

Cedeno will be cheaper next year and

can still help us if we get Giambi next season AND

we'd have Robin's replacement for 2003 and

Reed's replacement AND

save $ adn

be a BETTER team for years

Instead, lawton might = $ Reed in arbitrat

Here we go...

We Miss You, Dave

That's like going to your old boss

Who fired you

And doesn't want you at his picnic,

And you don't go,

And the employees are like

"So, why is dave not here?"

* * *

SMART LOGIC

But I tell that here and get chewed out,

It's called LOGIC,

He made a SMART business decision,

But it HURT our team.

Anybody that disagreed with me has YELLED at me

More than documented otherwise

Ode To A Run-On Sentence

Because if they feel they can compete like they did in the 2000 offseasn

when they saw the @#%$ crush their spirits

and did NOTHING to improve

with a full hearted 'win at all costs' attitude

that the @#%$ had,

then what makes us think fred,

who admitted he cannot profit til postseason,

would BLOW more $ for a team

that shows 'they can compete'

the way they are?

* * *

Challenge Me, Idiots

And to any idiot that asks why he's not a met,

you tell me how one legally joins a team without permission

when 4th day into free agency they do a press conference

to lock you out,

when it takes WEEKS to iron out a deal

Wake up and give me something, let's see QUOTES

Challenge me

On Courage

If they get destroyed,

it shatters that myth and can cost them $ in ticket sales

If they fight strong,

they can sit back and not invest as much.

She Sang A Sad, Angry Song

F you

You idiots never knew guys like me

When i went to shea in the early 90's

Mid 90's

And my grandma SANG at shea

And I knew of 'gen k' 2 years before

Some of you 'fans' knew of them

I support our farm

You never met me

Who Can You Trust?

Don't believe me.

Why not get Sele? What was our excuse?

He was told to be an innings guy,

Find the quote where sp said

"He is here due to his natural ability

to help us win a ring"

Life And How To Live It

don't address problems and solve them with a plan,

and come to terms with failure.

Insult hall of famers,

ignore your farm,

don't have a plan,

deny your problems,

panic,

and make quick fixes

and believe!

Now I Get It

It's BS or if it IS true, they have not confirmed it

Except for the invisible newspapers this clown listens to

Who is likely doing this due to the philly board

Why would I say that?

So This Is Christmas

oy, vey

Fans were jumping up and down like it was x-mas,

sorry kiddies,

mommy only got you underwear,

no Nintendo or new bike for you

Tied With Atlanta

And if it's $, you can't ask for Giambi,

he'll cost what arod would have asked for,

only texas offered $250m, the OWNER admitted it,

it was 2x atl's deal, which they would have had with a no trade clause, but they don't offer those to any atlanta based franchise tied with atlanta

Seriously, their GM and atl fans said so

$126m/7 years was the deal

How do you know? They NEVER talked $

* * *

It Was Reported More Than Once

Hey, i don't make this up

It was reported more than once,

Wilpon isn't stupid enough

To let sp spend more on a season

Where, even though the fans might believe,

mgmt isn't stupid,

like sp said,

they cannot profit til postseason,

so just put a freeze on spending

And reload next year.

* * *

Of That And They And Me

If that were available and they said no,

which would clear salary for giambi (Heh)

and give us a stud young left handed hitter,

my god, if we say no to that

(Not a real deal)

I'd shoot myself

To A Picklehead

I have fun

Kiss my ass

if you don't like how I talk or write you picklehead,

I care less.

Now email me

you dick

This Is A Business

this is a business.

Any player would say that,

And they do.

GREAT LOGIC

GO AHEAD, GOOD LUCK,

I'm SURE he'd say "GREAT IDEA,

I care about winning more than making $ on my investment

Where I poured in MILLIONS to PROFIT

(Business, get it?)

And owe $1/3 Billion

To make more over time with a cash cow stadium

I still CANNOT afford but DESIRE,

I paid this $ JUST to win, not profit,

GREAT LOGIC

* * *

I Talked About It

I showed one article fans ignored and goofed on,

I talked about lupica,

talked about espn confirming it,

talked about the owner

admitting arod didn't consider texas til the end,

even arod in his conference said that
