I'm probably out, rationally. I'll nurse faint hope, like a child or spookily-large imbecile, but... not expecting anything but daily striving.

That sound you just heard was the stopping of the presses that were printing postseason tickets.

I rooted for the Brooklyn Dodgers.

I never give up.

But these guys are making it tough.

I read on a Beckett board that there might be a dozen of these out there with

Robin sporting go-to boots. Rumor or fact?

I dunno what Beckett's got or what's "out there". But the Alonso HR record-breaker highlight card is a brand new first day release. So it's a total rumor or someone's been hacking into my computer. And if I've been hacked, I'll get Batman on the case and then those hacking fiends will be in big trouble.

I'll tell you what ain't out there and no one here's got. Batman Mets All-Star cards. It's a special subset that's being test-marketed in Latin America only, especially to capitalize on the red-hot Argentine and Mexican Bat-Markets. Argentina, especially, is mucho loco for Batman. These cards are sponsored by Canal TV (¡Tu TV guia favorita!) and aren't available stateside. I'll see what I can do about gettting youse a sneak peek, though.

We broke open a new pack of Batman Mets cards ($2.00 a pack for one card! --- they're so popular we're gonna gouge youse a bit) and pulled a Batman69 insert. So let's celebrate that amazin' 1969 baseball season with Batman and Robin a little bit more. But first, some trivia. It's quiz-time here at Typewriter Chewing Gum and here's the quiz question:

What song was at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 charts in 1969 when the Mets clinched the NL East division? Also, what song was at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 charts in 1969 when the Mets won the pennant? And finally, what song was at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 charts in 1969 when the Mets won the World Series? You have to identify all of these songs correctly in the same post to win this quiz. But I'm gonna make it easy for youse. Or rather, history and not me is gonna make it easier for youse. It's the same song all three times as this major hit held the top of the charts for about a month while the Mets were completing their miracle. Also, this song is Billboard's song of the year for 1969. To the batpoles!

Sweet song for sweet times.

Did you just post a youtube video of The Archies Sugar, Sugar? Unbelievable, given the Batman card I was just about to post. Either your powers of telepathy are off the charts or you just might be the guy who hacked into my computer to get that Alonso Highlight card before its intended public release. This is a job for the Dynamic Duo to investigate as Commissioner Gordon and Chief O'Hara are clearly in over their heads on this one.

So "candy" in "you are my candy girl" -- is that a noun or an adjective? You could look up the lyrics to see if there's a comma after "candy" but the comma is optional. So a missing comma -- and it's missing. I looked -- doesn't answer the question.

You can look. But you can't touch. Test market All-Star cards for the Latin American market is what we've got for youse today. But if youse wanna lay your actual hands on one of these babies, youse are gonna hafta get your passports in order because these All-Star cards, starring MLB's All-Stars, aren't available at a store near you. Either that or check ebay. Whatever. Holy Caramba!

Holy Stumpers! It's The Riddler!

Meanwhile, this song is so infectious, I must've clicked on the youtube link at least three times since FAFIF posted it. Now if you wanna see and hear what America was listening to in 1969 when the Mets were romping to their World Series crown, check out this Dick Clark video. Where have you gone, Ratso Rizzo?

Plus, the obligatory Batman tie-in.
