whippoorwill Old-Timey Member Posted July 6, 2019 Posted July 6, 2019 If this is the bullpen we're stuck with I give up
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2019 Posted July 25, 2019 A loss today and I'll finally join the club.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2019 Posted July 25, 2019 They just haven't solved their problems, and the organization's arrogant overconfidence and resulting lack of preparation is evident all over.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2019 Author Posted July 31, 2019 Five games out. Five teams in front of them. Two months left to go. The next nine games are against non-contenders. deGrom pitching tonight...
Methead Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 And if the Diamondbacks and Giants are sellers today, that weakens 2 of those 5 teams. God help me.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 I went and searched for this thread I was so determined to give up.Stupid SHaMs
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 DON'T YOU DARE GIVE UP ON THIS TEAM, DAMMIT
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 I'm going back on my word. I'm a broken fan
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 Even a broken fan is right twice a day y'know.Wait, what?
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 I am optimistic on the Metsies. An Ashie rarity
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2019 Author Posted July 31, 2019 Diamondbacks got weaker. And I don't think SF has the horses to sustain.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 The Cardinals gave up Boots Day when they traded him for Rich Nye.
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2019 Posted August 2, 2019 the bastards are drawing me back in. damn it.

Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2019 Posted August 2, 2019 If the SHaMs keep up their current .722 winning percentage we'll finish 92-70.
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2019 Posted August 3, 2019 Not that I keep track of such things, but in addition to the Mets the other fourteams ahead of them in the wild card 'race' also drop another game back. Lastnight's loss was huge and a win would have resulted in rare quintuple happiness.
batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2019 Posted August 3, 2019 I don't pay much attention to how many teams are ahead of the Mets in the race for the WC . It's still too early in the season for that, I figure. I mainly look at the games behind. I figure if the Mets win, the rest of that stuff will take care of itself. There's still enough season left where all those teams ahead of the Mets will be playing each other plenty, guaranteeing a loss in those head to heads. This is what youse call the net games behind stat, which I couldn't give a shit about until sometime after Labor Day.
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2019 Posted August 4, 2019 Blowing an opportunity to climb over a team (and everyone likes to saythere's too many teams to climb over) is always bad with only two monthsleft. Yesterday they erased a 'games back' and the others mostly did too. The day before they could have climbed over ARI - eliminating, at least temporarily, one of the dreaded 'tmttco's. Fewer teams to climb over has to be better thantmttco the first week of August or after Labor Day.

whippoorwill Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2019 Posted August 5, 2019 I sure did! I was in kindergarten when it first was on tv and looked forward to it every week even tjough i had no idea what night it'd be on. To this day in my head i hear ‘nana nana nanan nana na! Batman! In Color!'
batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2019 Posted August 5, 2019 Thanks, you're very talented. Thanks, right back atcha. What I wanted to say in the other post in this thread is to follow up on not being so concerned about the other teams, yet. I don't fret about the Mets, as you say, lost opportunity to move ahead of the DBacks the other day because that Mets loss will hurt them just the same even if the DBacks had lost on that day. I think this is all a convoluted way of really saying, "Just win, baby". I mean, to use an extreme example that still kinda makes the point, a team that loses on Opening day is behind half the teams in the league, assuming every team starts on the same day. See what I mean? So what.
