Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted May 7, 2019 Posted May 7, 2019 Maybe we need to, you know, start these things before the games start. For good luck and shit. Thor vs Cal Quantrill? That sounds made up to me.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted May 7, 2019 Posted May 7, 2019 Are any of the Padres upset that Syndergaard just won the "NL Player of the Week" award?

seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted May 7, 2019 Posted May 7, 2019 This is going to be one of those guy-just-called-up-from-AAA-throws-seven-scoreless-innings games. This fuckin' team, man.

Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted May 7, 2019 Posted May 7, 2019 =Ceetar post_id=9365 time=1557243891 user_id=102] This'll be the game they snap the funk and go on that 15-5 tear they're due.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 7, 2019 Posted May 7, 2019 Cal Quantrill is the longtime son of longtime big league reliever Paul Quantrill. He's a former first-round pick but he's been to the Tommy John House since then. No green hayseed, he has appeared internationally for Team Canada.
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted May 7, 2019 Posted May 7, 2019 Not sure how to do 'first game against the Mets' split, but here's the combined pitching record for the first start against the Mets that occurs within a pitcher's first three career startsSince 2015: 7-17 (pitcher's have a 5-10 record) and a 4.976 ERA

(I manually edited it to remove the duplicates, where a guy pitched twice against us in the first three)Interestingly, this seems to be the first time this season we've seen a guy within his first 6 career games this season.Within first 10? Paddock last night and we destroyed Kyle Wright w/ Atlanta in April.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted May 7, 2019 Posted May 7, 2019 Mets are due for a "more runs in one inning than they've scored in their last six games combined" outburst, which is to say maybe they'll score three or four tonight.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted May 7, 2019 Posted May 7, 2019 Agreed. They're going to win today 11-2, and everyone will be like "save some runs for tomorrow". And they won't. And we'll lose 2 of 3.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 7, 2019 Posted May 7, 2019 Ordinarily you'd look at a lineup featuring Nimmo & Frazier 7-8 and go, 'Wow, that must be a really good 1-thru-6'
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted May 7, 2019 Posted May 7, 2019 The Mets, the Mets, a helluva townWilmer Font is up, Corey Oswalt is downIt's a DP when Ramos hits one on the groundThe Mets, The Mets...They're a helluva town!
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 7, 2019 Posted May 7, 2019 The amazing skill is when you hit into a double-play with nobody on base. Amazingly, he's actually only got four GiDP in 33 games. Perception, man.McNeil, Ramos, and Nimmo have names that take up virtually the same exact amount of picas. At least, they do in that font.Alonso's name is maybe a hair wider, and Rosario's a hair wider than that.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted May 7, 2019 Author Posted May 7, 2019 At least we're talking about wide hairs. That's a start.

G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted May 7, 2019 Posted May 7, 2019 One run in and I'm as awake as I'm gonna be — Let's Go Mets!
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 7, 2019 Posted May 7, 2019 "I think the Mets are going to have more comfortable at-bats tonight, as opposed to last night." — Padres announcer[bIGPURPLE]2,500![/bIGPURPLE]
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 7, 2019 Posted May 7, 2019 Here's to Alonso (a) batting fourth, and ( again willing to drive in runs without knocking it out of the park.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted May 7, 2019 Posted May 7, 2019 Canogratulations to the reformed ex-MFY.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted May 7, 2019 Posted May 7, 2019 When was the last time Syndergaard got a swinging strike?Geez. Rosie is erroring his was off the roster
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted May 7, 2019 Posted May 7, 2019 Rosario's defense is depressing this year.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 7, 2019 Posted May 7, 2019 Not that I'm unhappy with this sudden spate of offense, but with 2 doubles + 3 singles + plus a HBP in only two innings, we should have more than two runs.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 7, 2019 Posted May 7, 2019 That it's "at worst a tie" Is the Reason you don't overturn it Gary!!
LWFS Old-Timey Member Posted May 7, 2019 Posted May 7, 2019 It was "at worst" a tie meant that Quantrill either had it beaten outright OR it was a tie. That replay challenge on Quantrill's grounder/footrace with Noah went our way, yes, but honestly... I don't understand how.
