K & G kept saying how they've never seen that before (at least not a hop to that degree) but I fret about such a hop each and every time I see a deep-playing NYM 2nd sacker waiting for the grounder to get to him.

iow, I'm surprised it doesn't happen more often, even though, as they mentioned, those lips aren't as stark as they were in years past.

Diaz and Familia are as good as it gets so far. The rest of them, well, middle relievers are still largely interchangeable parts. If the biggest worries on this team are Lugo, Gsellman, Avilas, and Wilson, I'll sign up for that.

Howie was questioning the decision to stay with Avilan for two. I guess he doesn't really do that. It shows.



More importantly it burns him for tomorrow. Which was my issue. Why is Tim Peterson even on this team if he can't pitch in 6-0 games.

I got no problem with Avilan for two. I think fewer, longer appearances is healthier for a pen than lotso' shorter appearances.

Definitely. Pulling a reliever who had an easy inning for another reliever who may not "have his stuff" that day has always bugged me.

My problem is that in the first week of the season, you've had a 7-run lead in the 9th and a 6-run lead in the 9th, and you've had to use your closer both times. That's not a good trend.
