A Boy Named Seo Old-Timey Member Posted January 6, 2019 Posted January 6, 2019 Brody Van Permagrin has been methodically ticking off the boxes on the Mets shopping list (closer-y relievers, catcher, right-handed outfield bat, infield depth), but lefty reliever remains unchecked.Predict, if you dare, who our last (most likely), major-ish acquisition will be.
Guest 41Forever Guests Posted January 6, 2019 Posted January 6, 2019 Is a Blevins reunion out of the question? Last year wasn't great, but does he get a chance to right the ship?
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted January 6, 2019 Posted January 6, 2019 Took Ollie for morbid amusement.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted January 7, 2019 Posted January 7, 2019 Here's the thing. The Mets have needed a solid left-handed reliever for years. This year, we are supposedly all in. With Britton signing with the MFY's and Miller gone to St. Louis, the best options are off the table. I guess in theory Brodie could swing another trade, but these guys were available for just money. And in Miller's case, a pretty reasonable amount of money.Even if by some miracle we sign Harper, we're going to rely on Daniel Zamora to get FFF in a tight spot?
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted January 7, 2019 Posted January 7, 2019 I'm actually on the Zamora Bandwagon, not because I truly believe in him but because somebody has to have the role and he's somebody. That said I'm all for mixing in a few other somebodies. Someone already brought up Ollie; I'd totally give him a MiLB deal. Not breaking the bank on this shit though
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted January 7, 2019 Posted January 7, 2019 I would be absolutely all in on Ollie Perez.
A Boy Named Seo Old-Timey Member Posted January 7, 2019 Author Posted January 7, 2019 Damn, Ollie was really good last year. At 32.1 IP, he seems pretty strictly a LOOGY at this point, though, no?My heart wants to vote for him, but my finger hasn't clicked it yet.
smg58 Old-Timey Member Posted January 7, 2019 Posted January 7, 2019 Ollie was strictly a LOOGY when we gave him that $36M extension.I'll say a trade. Most likely Will Smith or Tony Watson from the Giants.

Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted January 8, 2019 Posted January 8, 2019 Hector Santiago, late of the ChiSox, apparently has signed a minor league deal.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted January 8, 2019 Posted January 8, 2019 Puma is implying the Mets are basically "out of cash" for salary so I am not expecting much.Guess I can cross Pollack off

Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted January 9, 2019 Posted January 9, 2019 I just hope he's a Specialist.
Methead Old-Timey Member Posted January 10, 2019 Posted January 10, 2019 Apparently we signed Luis Avilan to a minor league deal today.
A Boy Named Seo Old-Timey Member Posted January 10, 2019 Author Posted January 10, 2019 Yah I'm the first to admit that I've shit on a lot of Brodie Van Clearancerack's acquisitions, but I really like this one. Surprised he could only get a minor league deal. And with the Mets of all teams!
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted January 10, 2019 Posted January 10, 2019 Luis Avilan from the bottom of my heart
A Boy Named Seo Old-Timey Member Posted January 28, 2019 Author Posted January 28, 2019 One of you geniuses correctly guessed Justin Wilson, so congrats, you. You're a genius.I wonder, too, about Blevins. I'd totally offer that guy a minor league contract. I'm certain he would say no, but let him say no.
