Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted January 4, 2019 Posted January 4, 2019 (edited) I know the auction style is the thing around here, but if there's enough interest in a more traditional style league done on Yahoo or ESPN I'd be happy to participate and even set the league up. metsmarathon Old-Timey Member Posted January 4, 2019 Posted January 4, 2019 i'll gladly play in a traditional non-auction baseball league.
A Boy Named Seo Old-Timey Member Posted January 4, 2019 Posted January 4, 2019 The more leagues, the merrier. I'd play, too.
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted January 4, 2019 Posted January 4, 2019 i'd be in for ESPNi made the mistake of joining a yahoo league last year and then realized "i never check yahoo"
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted January 10, 2019 Author Posted January 10, 2019 Well I personally would want to do an NL only league. I don't really care between ESPN and Yahoo, if it's not for money, I prefer Yahoo for my own $ league but that's just me. I'd say for it to at least be fun we'd need at least 8, and preferably 10. The nice thing about single leagues is you can make do with less owners. So we have so far:FmanMetsmarathonABNSNymrBMFCThat's five. Ashie are you sure you don't want to give it a try?
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted January 11, 2019 Author Posted January 11, 2019 Pinged Seawolf, LWFS, Ceetar, some other CPF'ers I think also. Hoping for a few more nibbles.
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted January 11, 2019 Posted January 11, 2019 NL only works with 8. If we get to 12 we should combine it. 10 I could go either way.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted January 11, 2019 Author Posted January 11, 2019 Well we're stuck at 5. I agree, 8 would be super for NL only.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted January 13, 2019 Author Posted January 13, 2019 We will give this a few more days to see if any other CPF'ers are interested - otherwise I can check with a couple of buddies of mine who are fans of other NL teams, to see if we can get up to 8 and get a league going.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted January 16, 2019 Author Posted January 16, 2019 No one from my $100 money league showed any interest in this. I'm open to other ideas, fellers.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted January 17, 2019 Author Posted January 17, 2019 Don't know if that's an option.I can also share the league link to the NY Mets reddit page once it's established. I mean, we need 3 people. That's not a lot.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted January 17, 2019 Posted January 17, 2019 I would love to, but I can't mentally manage more than one team or it takes up way more time than it should in my life. Sorry!
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted January 18, 2019 Author Posted January 18, 2019 I mean, this will be set up similar to a league I have done with ABNS for the last several years that is tons of fun. Weekly lineup changes, and week to week scoring, which means, really, you log in on Sunday night, see who is hot/cold on your team over the last week, maybe make a free agent swap or two, and set your lineup for the upcoming week. Each week is a new matchup and a clean slate. And then there are playoffs in September. But it's OK, I am still thinking I can find a few others willing to join if this isn't your thing. We have 5 here and I can scare up 3 others I reckon.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted January 20, 2019 Author Posted January 20, 2019 League is ready for joining. http://fantasy.espn.com/baseball/league/join?leagueId=65375625&inviteId=6f934f68-69fd-4537-b262-7b3a647720e9Link is here. Draft set tentatively for Sunday March 17th at 7:30 PM. Once the five known CPF'ers have signed up I will spread this link around a smidge.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted January 25, 2019 Author Posted January 25, 2019 Well I need the other three folks here to join before I spread this around. Anytime, fellers.
metsmarathon Old-Timey Member Posted January 26, 2019 Posted January 26, 2019 Oops. Sorry. I'll get to it tonight.
A Boy Named Seo Old-Timey Member Posted January 27, 2019 Posted January 27, 2019 Sorry I snoozed it. I'm in now.
metsmarathon Old-Timey Member Posted January 27, 2019 Posted January 27, 2019 Finally got off my fat ass and signed up
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted January 28, 2019 Author Posted January 28, 2019 It looks like you signed up twice, in error. I'm gonna boot one of them. Meanwhile we still need NYMR or BMFC to sign up (I get usernames and people names mixed up).

Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted January 29, 2019 Author Posted January 29, 2019 We need BMFC then. I see that Ceetar came around too, that gives us 6. So we'll just need to find 2 others on Reddit or the mean streets.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted January 30, 2019 Posted January 30, 2019 I'll sign up if you need one
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted January 30, 2019 Author Posted January 30, 2019 Now we just need BMFC, still, and one more from someplace. Maybe someone who knows him IRL or on FB can ping him, I sent him a direct message here but never got anything back. Thanks for joining in JCL.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted January 30, 2019 Posted January 30, 2019 Fine, you fuckers. I'm in.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted January 30, 2019 Author Posted January 30, 2019 You all will see, with weekly roster moves, you can really manage your team for this league by looking at your roster on Sunday nights and spending 5-10 minutes setting your lineup for the week, picking up hot players off waivers, etc. That's how I do it in ABNS' other league that uses a similar scoring/roster style and it works out great.
